News from the CLT

Church News & Opportunities to Serve

The White House Is Open!

The house will be open Monday–Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and we need volunteers to help make it a welcoming place. Volunteers will answer phones, greet visitors, and assist with light tasks around the house. If you would like to be part of this team, please sign up using the link below. Thank you for helping us prepare the White House to serve others!

We also need volunteers willing to cut the grass and help maintain the exterior of the property. If you can lend a hand with outdoor upkeep, please email Sarah, and we will organize a team.

The White House phone number is 854-832-0977. For now, this number will be answered only during office hours. Please continue to contact Sarah with most questions, but feel free to call the house directly if you need to reach someone during those hours.

Children’s Moment: We Need You!

Please prayerfully consider volunteering to lead the Children’s Moment during worship. The team serving in this important ministry is in great need of additional volunteers. Sharing God’s love and helping our children grow in faith is a wonderful way to serve our church family. You do not have to be an expert—just willing to share your time and heart with our youngest disciples!

Stacking Stones: A Reminder

If you have not yet completed your Stacking Stones pledge card, please do so as soon as possible. Remember, your pledge represents a commitment spread over three years, helping us plan for the future God is preparing for Summerville Methodist Church. Every gift makes a difference as we continue building on the foundation of faith God has provided.

Belong: Our Stewardship Campaign Is Coming!

Our Belong Stewardship Campaign will begin soon. As we look ahead, prayerfully consider how you will support the daily ministries and operations of our church—not only through your financial gifts, but also through your time, talents, and service.

We are blessed to be part of a church family where everyone has something meaningful to offer. Together, we can continue to share God’s love, serve others, and strengthen the ministry of Summerville Methodist Church.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give…for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7

A Prayer for the Summerville Methodist Church Building Capital Campaign

Gracious and most merciful God, Creator of all things, we lift up prayers of praise today for the blessing you have bestowed on our church and your people.

LORD of the Heavens and of the Earth, we praise you for the faithful men, women, and children of our church who nurture and strengthen our church in faith, compassion, and love.

LORD of Grace and Mercy, we praise you for your redeeming love, given freely on the cross by your Son, our Savior.

LORD of Wisdom, we praise you for being the seat of all wisdom, worthy of eternal praise.

LORD of Divine Will and Resolve, we praise you for the guidance we have received and ask that you continue to show us what your will is for this church and for our future.

LORD, of time and space, Alpha and Omega, we praise you for your loving presence in our lives each and every waking moment.

LORD, we are your people and we lift up these praises in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We apologize that we were unable to show Trae McElheny's testimony about Stacking Stones during Sunday morning's service. We regret the technical difficulties and appreciate your understanding. The video is attached for your viewing.

Additional assistance is needed in these key areas:

Over 200 members of the church are active on REALM, gaining access to quick and easy online giving, event registrations, and our church directory. If you're ready to create your account, please get in touch with the office to request a new invitation email!

New location and meeting day!

Our second Q & A session is TONIGHT 6:30 pm. Bring your questions for our Steering Team!

Join Us for a Spooktacular Trunk or Treat!

We are thrilled to invite you and your little ones to a delightful Trunk or Treat event at Knightsville Methodist Church! This collaboration between Knightsville Methodist Church and our church promises an afternoon filled with fun and festive Halloween spirit. Bring your children for safe trunk-or-treating, a haunted house, and a pumpkin patch.

Members of our church community can support this event by donating candy or by volunteering to decorate a trunk and hand out treats on the day of the event. Let’s come together to make this a memorable occasion for all! We can’t wait to see you there for an afternoon of fun!🎃

OCC UPDATE - 366 shoeboxes have been distributed! We have 150 shoeboxes left for the Youth Packing Party on Nov. 8. That leaves only 84 boxes available for pickup on Sundays at the OCC display table.

There are 24 online shoeboxes packed! Our goal online is 75 boxes packed. To fill a shoebox online, simply click the link below. If you need help with online packing, see one of the OCC volunteers at the display table each week.

When packing your shoeboxes, include a “WOW” item, some fun toys, personal care items, and school supplies. Consider personalizing your boxes with a note from you, a picture of you, and your favorite Bible verse.

Donate $10 per shoebox for shipping. You can include $10 cash or a check made out to SMC with OCC in the memo line. Or you can drop it in the Donation Box on the OCC display table on Sunday. Thank you for being a part of this global ministry that brings the Good News of Jesus to children around the world!

*The OCC table will also be able to assist you with filling a shoebox online. Additionally, pairs of the "Shoes that Grow" and small dresses made by an SMC member will be available to use in your boxes, if desired.

SMC'S Newest Stephen Ministers!

Please congratulate our Five New Stephen Ministers who are ready to serve.  They were

commissioned by Pastor Mark Barnes during the October 18 service.  Pictured left to right are

Jeff Madill, Susan Messenger, Cynthia Medford. Debbie Call, and Quince Cody.

Their nine classmates from Knightsville Methodist were also commissioned on October 18.

Both Stephen Ministry programs will continue to collaborate with monthly education/supervision

meetings. All of the SMC Stephen Ministers are eager to be paired with Care Receivers and to

walk alongside those dealing with emotional or spiritual challenges.

Please be in touch with Pastor Mark Barnes or Mary Kay Wrenn with questions for yourself or someone else about receiving the gift of a personal confidential Stephen Minister.

(Pastor Barnes - 843-327-8138.  Mary Kay Wrenn - 843-323-2130 )

Each Sunday morning, we offer two opportunities for adult learning and fellowship through our Sunday School classes. Whether you're an early riser or prefer a later start, we have a class to fit your schedule, with sessions at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. These classes are a wonderful way to deepen your faith, connect with others, and engage in meaningful discussions.

We warmly invite all adults in our community to come and join us. If you haven’t experienced one of our classes yet, we encourage you to step in and see what we have to offer. We promise a welcoming atmosphere and enriching conversations that will inspire and uplift. Come, grow with us!
