We are reaching out to invite you to participate in a study to support increased availability of energy-efficient clean water pumps and circulators. The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), a non-profit energy efficiency organization, is conducting research on efficient pumps. NEEA would like your expertise, as someone experienced working with pumps and circulators, to help them understand the pump and circulator market in the Northwest and design programs that best work with the market.
Please click the link below to complete a 15-minute survey. If you qualify for and complete the survey, you will receive $100 as a thank-you for your time and information. Please note that you are only eligible to take the survey one time.
| | NEEA has contracted with Apex Analytics, an independent research firm, and its partner St. Norbert’s Strategic Research Institute to complete this survey. To verify the legitimacy of this study, please contact Chris Cardiel at NEEA at ccardiel@neea.org. For questions about the research project or technical difficulties with the survey, please reach out to Nathaniel Albers at Apex at nathaniela@apexanalyticsllc.com. | | |

Seattle City Light is offering a new no-cost program for commercial and multifamily buildings that are larger than 20,000 square feet. The second cohort of the Commercial Strategic Energy Management (SEM) program will launch in October! A second Multifamily Strategic Energy Management cohort will launch in Spring 2027. This coaching and training program will help commercial and multifamily buildings lower their energy consumption, prepare to meet the requirements of the Washington Clean Buildings Performance Standard (WA CBPS) and—for buildings within the city limits of Seattle—the Seattle Building Emissions Performance Standard (Seattle BEPS).
Here are some of the benefits of participating in this program:
-
Learn how to lower operating costs and achieve persistent energy saving and emissions reduction.
- Get on the path to compliance with both the Washington Clean Buildings Performance Standard and Seattle Building Emissions Performance Standard.
-
Join dynamic quarterly workshops, offering technical and organizational training and the opportunity to share practices and solutions alongside peers.
- Work with an energy and climate coach for ongoing support throughout the program – up to two years. This includes:
- One site walkthrough to identify energy-saving opportunities and help prioritizing project implementation.
- Assessments and action plan to support integrating energy into business practices.
- Coordination with the organization’s extended energy team to address specific needs and goals.
- The program is free for participants. Your investment is your time spent attending workshops and activities – an investment which should yield energy savings as well as valuable organizational benefits.

A regional non-profit, Literacy Source, offers training in English language skills for employers of non-native speakers or incumbent workers developing their reading, writing, math, or digital literacy skills. The students serve in custodial, M&O, or other front-line positions and can benefit from improved literacy for reading signs, instructions for garbage handling, workplace safety, and some customer communication. The school is running programs at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Port of Seattle and would like to build on their work to serve additional employers in the 4-county area but at this stage is just looking to have a conversation about how other facilities handle this.
To learn more about their employer partnerships, visit https://www.literacysource.org/partnerships.

Energy Benchmarking
Seattle is Implementing a New Technology for Benchmarking & BEPS
In July 2026, OSE will launch the Touchstone IQ platform as the new data management tool for Energy Benchmarking compliance. This tool is used by many other cities and integrates with users’ ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® accounts. Then, beginning in early 2027, OSE will update its Touchstone IQ platform to add features for Building Emissions Performance Standard (BEPS) compliance. Here are some additional key points:
- Buildings that are in benchmarking compliance prior to the June 1, 2026, deadline will not need to take any additional steps for Data Year 2025 reporting.
-
Buildings that remain non-compliant after the June 1st deadline will be required to achieve compliance under the new process established with Touchstone IQ.
- Moving forward, building owners will continue to use ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® to collect energy and buildings data. However, Touchstone IQ will become the hub for compliance, reporting, and technical assistance for benchmarking and BEPS.
- All covered buildings will need to comply with energy benchmarking for Data Year 2026 by June 1, 2027, via the Touchstone IQ platform. Subsequently, all BEPS compliance activities will occur in the Touchstone IQ platform.
Please stay tuned to future bulletins and monitor seattle.gov/energybenchmarking for more information on energy benchmarking compliance, trainings, and the launch of Touchstone IQ.
