Attention all parents (U9 & up)
|
|
If you are at the rink during the first few ice times and notice coaches that you expected to see on the ice, in the stands, there is a reason for that. FYRA has decided to take on a more formal evaluation and team selection process which includes coaches assessing players from off the ice doing specific, but basic drills.
They will be watching closely, and entering data on their phones, trying to assess as many players as possible in a short time. So, please don’t be offended if they don’t seem as socially inclined as normal while kids are on the ice.
The goal is to create even FYRA teams and to build a base of information for coaches to use in developing players throughout the season

Early... Early Bird Planning – FYRA needs YOU!
The Countdown is on … only 64 days until FYRA hosts the 2019 Early Bird Tournament (November 15
th
– 17
th
). The Early Bird Tournament draws over 60 teams from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and is the largest annual sporting tournament held in Fredericton with over 100 games played on five ice surfaces. We will see over 800 players, coaches, assistant coaches and managers.
We need you and your volunteer skills to make it a success !!
The Committee will be holding its first meeting on Tuesday @ 7-8:30pm (Grant Harvey, Community Room #2).
Please come out and see what roles are left to fill and see what it’s all about. This year we would like to see U9 & U10 parents shadowing those in the lead roles in order to continue on in the following years. This is our one and only fundraiser for the year and the association has a great track record of providing a quality, smoothly run event. Let’s make this the best one yet !
