In the fall of 2021, The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) partnered with Ludian to conduct a study on the feasibility of implementing Adaptive Signal Control Technology (ASCT) on Las Vegas Boulevard. The Ludian project team, led by CEO Ian Machen, utilized a broad range of PDA tools to support the analysis necessary to better understand if ASCT would assist in the improvement of safety and performance along the boulevard. With the limited timeline and resources available for the successful delivery of the project, Ludian turned to RITIS and its PDA tools to conduct the necessary traffic studies. 'The RITIS tools were essential in saving time and money in our assessment of current and historic traffic conditions on and around Las Vegas Blvd.', says CEO Ian Manchen. State DOTs are increasingly embracing open data policies by deploying portals in which an agency can share critical agency performance and planning data with the public and elected officials. Many of these portals help agencies tell their mobility story through a variety of dashboards using industry-leading GIS and business intelligence platforms. MassDOT is leading the way in sharing such stories in the form of their own branded MassDOT Mobility Dashboard. When it came time to publish travel time performance measures for key corridors around Boston, they leveraged the PDA API library to automate the process of extracting travel times and integrated that into both an ArcGIS Online Dashboard as well as Tableau data visualizations. 'The results have been well received by senior leadership within MassDOT and we plan to include additional key performance measures from RITIS and INRIX data in the near future.' says Corey O'Connor, Traffic Operations and Analytics Supervisor for MassDOT.

RITIS Signal Analytics is a game-changing solution that allows agencies to view traffic signal performance measures for their intersections without the need to install roadside detection and infrastructure. Signal Analytics analyzes high temporal resolution probe vehicle data to calculate performance metrics like percent arrival on green, split failures, and control delay at intersections. Since the system uses cloud-based probe data, it can be scaled and deployed virtually anywhere across the country.
