The GLI is a multi-year collaborative effort that supports community-serving organizations and local governments across Santa Barbara County with capacity building, planning, project development, and community engagement so they can address air quality, extreme heat, water supply, food security, and wildfire risk. Learn more here.

What Does the Coordinating Committee Do?

Collective Cultures Creating Change: Project Update

The Resilient Garden Project is thriving with exciting developments! This growing season, we celebrated a bountiful harvest of vibrant broccoli and peppers, while nurturing new crops like cauliflower and purple cabbage. Our next initiative will focus on beautifully designing decomposed granite pathways to improve accessibility and functionality of our garden space.

Our garden serves as a vital platform for local youth, who earn high school volunteer hours by helping maintain the garden. We are also excited to announce our collaboration with a Lompoc High School student who has founded the Community Garden Care Club. This initiative, alongside our partnership with Route 1 Mobile Market, will facilitate a cohesive effort to cultivate, design, and educate participants about the intricacies of garden maintenance.

Looking ahead, we’re exploring a partnership with the White Buffalo Land Trust to incorporate into our project their sustainable gardening practices and farming techniques. Through this initiative, we aspire to provide essential resources and knowledge that empower our community. Together, we can create a thriving garden that reflects our values and enriches our lives.

Community Voices Drive Guadalupe’s Bike Hostel Vision

The Guadalupe Business Association distributed 2,500 bilingual surveys via utility bills and community networks. The input gathered will inform the upcoming feasibility study for the Bike Hostel Project, a critical step in shaping Guadalupe’s future.
