What are we wearing when we come to the table?
What does it mean to be invited? Who gets welcomed to the table? And what might the “wedding robe” represent for those of us who have already said yes to the invitation?
Perhaps we should consider that following Jesus is not simply about being invited in. It is about allowing that invitation to change us, to shape how we live, how we love, and how we make room for others.
All are welcome. All means all. Come worship with us!

Update: Worship Guide and Resources
As technology continues to change, so do the tools we use to communicate and share information with our congregation. Because of some recent software changes, you may notice some differences in our Worship Guide and worship slides in the weeks ahead. You can also find the worship guides and resources on our website each week.
We are working to find systems that are accessible, reliable, and work well for our congregation. There may be a few bumps along the way as we learn and adjust, so we appreciate your patience and flexibility.
Most of all, thank you for growing with us through these technology transitions.
We are grateful for your grace, patience, and willingness to navigate these changes with us.

Cross Missouri Crop Hunger Walk
Don Harter is over half way through his 310 mile journey to help relieve hunger locally. He will set off THIS Sunday afternoon. As part of this effort, we are holding the 310 Food Drive Challenge. Our goal is to collect 310 non-perishable food items, one for every mile Don walks, by October 11. That is THIS Sunday and we need more food brought to the shelves in Fellowship Hall. We are not even half way to our goal! Please bring your non- perishable items and join us in supporting by stocking the shelves for this important cause. BONUS: You will find delicious donuts each Sunday to reward your journey to Fellowship Hall to place your items!
There is still time to walk with or join Don on this trek. Visit this signup and consider keeping him company during one of the trek days! Remember you can also help Don Harter by walking or donating in the Cross Missouri CROP Hunger Walk , a meaningful journey to raise awareness and support for hunger relief.

Our Turn to Take Care of Kristi
If you know Kristi Larsen, you know she is always taking care of everyone and somehow managing all the things. Now it’s our turn to take care of her.
On October 8, Kristi will head to St. Louis for open-heart surgery to repair her mitral valve, which has been causing trouble because of a genetic condition called Barlow’s disease. Kristi and her husband, Soren, expect to be in St. Louis for 4–7 days following surgery before heading home to begin the next part of her recovery.
And, as many of us know, the hardest part for someone like Kristi may be slowing down, resting, and letting other people handle things for a while!
That’s where we come in.
We’ve created a page for updates, opportunities to help, meal needs, and other ways we can support Kristi and Soren as they navigate recovery.
Most importantly, we are asking you to help us give Kristi the gift she may find hardest to accept: permission to truly rest and heal.

Food Bank Volunteer Opportunities Have Returned
Until recently, Broadway partnered with the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri to host a monthly Mobile Pantry food distribution on site, In April, this distribution option transitioned, and we have been working to identify an alternative to this ministry for the last few months. As such, we are delighted to invite Broadway members (and friends) to join us in the Volunteer Room at the Food Bank (2101 Vandiver Drive), on Wednesday, October 28 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. A block of volunteer spots has been dedicated to Broadway, and you can sign up to support this work by clicking on the link below.

Every Ability Flourishes Updates
During the month of October, we are highlighting the importance of inclusion in the life of the church.
Celebrating persons of all abilities starts with each member of Broadway. Becoming more informed about available resources is a great way to learn more and do more. Here’s some great websites to check out: Collaborative on Faith & Disabilities, https://faithanddisability.org; Wheaton Center for Faith and Disability www.wheaton.edu/wheaton-center-for-faith-and-disability; Joni&Friends info@joniandfriends.org; Disability Ministry https://abilityministry.com and the Faith Inclusion Network www.faithinclusionnetwork.org are just a few sites that can help BCC be a place that is welcoming and inclusive for all.

Help a Family Get Settled
We have an opportunity to help a young father and his teenage son as they begin making a home together. They recently secured housing and are starting with very few household essentials.
If you have gently used furniture or household items you would be willing to donate, they are especially in need of a couch or loveseat, end tables, kitchen or dining table and chairs, a full or queen-size bed for the teen, a washer and dryer, or other household essentials.
The family has a pickup truck and can arrange to pick up donated items, so delivery is not necessary. If you have something to offer or would like more information, please reach out to the Julian Jackman or the church office.

| October is Pastor Appreciation Month, a wonderful time to give thanks for the pastors who lead, care for, encourage, and walk alongside our congregation. Take a moment to share a word or two of gratitude with our pastors, Sarah and Andrew, and let them know how much their presence and ministry mean to you. | | |
Trunk or Treat is in Two Weeks
Get ready for an afternoon of Halloween fun at Broadway Christian Church! Our annual Trunk or Treat is happening Sunday, October 25 from 3:00 –5:00 p.m., and we want YOU to be part of making it a fun and welcoming afternoon for our families and community.

- Donate candy! Help us keep our trunks stocked with plenty of treats.
- Be a face painter! If you have a gift for creating fun faces, we would love your help!
