Addition to Narthex
Construction will begin next week
The Vestry has approved a construction contract with Longbow Contracting of Lee’s Summit to build an addition to the church which will accommodate the relocation of the stairway and a new enclosed lift. Construction is expected to begin next week and continue for up to 5 months.

The first phase of the project will be outside work that will involve reconstruction of the east handicap ramp and doorway to make the entrance ADA compliant for wheelchairs. During this time the east lower level entrance may be closed. Groups and individuals using the undercroft or kitchen will only be able to access this space by using the indoor stairway or back stairway entrance.

Construction will then transition to constructing an addition to the building and demolishing the existing outside wall with windows overlooking the former courtyard. During this time access to the sanctuary may be temporarily restricted.

This project has been a long-time in the making, especially due to COVID delays and construction material shortages. The Vestry thanks the congregation for their patience while several construction bids were received and reviewed, building plans were revised and contracts negotiated.

During construction we ask everyone to be especially mindful of their own safety and to exercise good judgment when workers and equipment are present. In five months, we will have a beautiful new Resurrection!
New Building Improvements
Funded by parking cars!
The Vestry has recently approved several improvements to the church building that you may or may not have noticed.

The largest expenditure was for the replacement of an air conditioner unit and repair to another unit costing $7,000. You may recall we also replaced a furnace in December.

New countertops and a tiled backsplash in the undercroft were installed. The west wall will be repainted a lighter color soon to blend with the new tile. A big THANK YOU to Les Woodward for his work on this project!

The choir loft has also seen some changes, with the relocation of a speaker and soon to be installed microphones that will hang from the ceiling.

All of these improvements were funded from monies raised from parking cars at the cathedral during downtown events. Contact Elaine Gilligan if you would like to be part of this group! Additional volunteers are needed.
Accepting Applications for our 5th Rector
Daily Prayer for the Search Committee
The Search Committee and Vestry of the Church of the Resurrection asks for your daily prayers as we begin the next phase of the search process - accepting applications. We believe God has already chosen who will be our next rector, and that individual is simply discerning the call. We pray that person will hear God’s voice and be lead to Resurrection.

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose the next Rector of Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for and love us and equip us for our various ministries; through Jesus Christ out Lord. Amen.
