Varsity Football
Week 4 saw the Varsity Wolverines begin the conference portion of the 2026 football schedule, visiting the Eastlake Wolves.
After rain most of the day on Friday, the clouds parted and the Friday Night Lights shown under a mostly clear sky. Unfortunately, the first quarter was messy — penalties and turnovers waylaid the inevitable: the Wolverines were a stronger, more talented team, and it would become apparent soon enough. Junior RJ Ward started the scoring with a short TD run, but the Wolverines would add 2 more before the half, with Eastlake’s only score coming on a trick play. 21-7 at the break.
Q3 was a barrage of Wolverine offense AND defense that Eastlake had no answer for. In the end, touchdowns from Ward, Trevon Barnes (Jr), Geno Esquibel (Jr.), Dreson Jimerson (Jr), and Lonzell Hall (So) came in a route to the tune of 49-7.
A defensive standout for the evening was Junior Marvin Kalepo, who tallied an interception, sack, and numerous tackles.
Football hosts Hazen for Homecoming next Friday at 7pm.

Bellevue Girls Soccer completed a very challenging week against two 4A powerhouses: defending 4A State Champion Mt. Si and 4A third place finisher Issaquah. We earned a point against Issaquah, coming back from a 0-2 early deficit to knot the game at 2-2. Goals by Saleen Koszorus '27 (assist Mackenzie Tucker '27) and Aleah Lombardo '28 (assist Saleen). On Thursday, we traveled to Mt. Si and lost 0-2. After conceding two early goals, we were unable to close the gap, made more difficult by a Wolverine red card to begin the 2nd half. Playing short-handed, our team outshot the Wildcats and posted a 62% possession advantage for the game, but Mt. Si were able to close out the game in front of their raucous student section (singing, heckling, chanting). We are looking forward to returning to Bellevue Stadium this week, hosting Woodinville on Tuesday 7:30pm for our Fan Appreciation Night (free cookies!! Hot Chocolate!!) and Newport on Thursday 7:30pm

The Bellevue Marching Band and select members of the Cheer Squad traveled to Leavenworth and performed in the Autumn Leaf Festival Parade! They got great response from the audience and got to enjoy the town as tourists
| BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY | |
Cross country began the week with a solid training session at Killarney Park on Monday, followed by an easy campus run on Tuesday.
Wednesday the team competed with Bothell and Woodinville high schools on a sunny late summer afternoon at St. Edward state park in Kenmore, on the northeastern shores of Lake Washington. The course took students across the lawns and onto rolling dirt trails along the edges of the wooded park which surrounds the former monastery-turned-hotel destination. Senior Tage Wilson cruised to a controlled victory in 18:10.0. Freshman Cooper Chaffee (8th, 19:03) led a chase pack that included fellow freshman Justin Zhang (10th, 19:26), senior Levi Nistler (12th, 19:33), and junior Charles Jardine (13th, 19:34) for the scoring five, with junior Kyle Boyd (17th, 19:50) and sophomore Kian Wilson (18th, 19:55) close behind to complete the varsity seven finishers. Sophomore Justis Truitt led the girls team, finishing 8th in 23:15. Junior Olivia Leyva (9th, 23:22) followed closely with junior Siyu Ma (16th, 24:24), junior Moriah Kim (17th, 24:33), and junior Grace Zhao (20th, 25:01) making up the scoring five runners, while junior Yuna Park (23rd, 25:51) and sophomore Kirana Ferlay (25th, 25:56) completing the varsity seven runners. Not to be outdone, sophomore Sean Ma nearly took the victory in the boys JV race, finishing second in 20:51, with seniors Eldon Li (4th, 21:01) and Joshua Lee (6th, 21:23) close behind. A solid day of work overall, which only helps the team build strength, confidence, and momentum going forward.
The team finished off the week with a run on the cushioned Mercer slough trails Thursday, and a campus run Friday before meeting Saturday AM for a tough, gritty session on the Horseshoe hills in the woods behind International School, an impressive day of work on a cloudless autumn morning.
A select group will compete on Saturday evening at the Twilight Invite in Everett, WA.

The Bellevue Boys Tennis team continues to play intense, competitive matches in their Kingco league schedule.
Against an especially talented Inglemoor team on Tuesday, the Vikings swept all four singles matches while the Wolverines swept all three doubles matches. While freshmen Wesley Han and Jacob Feng played incredibly close matches at #1 and #2 singles, Aayush Rane and Nathan Choy of Inglemoor prevailed in tiebreaker wins. Senior captain Andy Peng and his partner, junior Nicholas Tsiktsiris, continue to hold it down at doubles. After a first set 3-6 loss to Rui Qiao and Anthony Hsu, the duo found their footing, winning two tiebreakers in a row to claim the second (7-6 (7-4)) and third set (10-7), securing their victory. Doubles team’s junior Nathan Winget/sophomore Roger Ma and sophomore Sena Uehara/junior Roy Kang carried #2 and #3 doubles with ease.
Versus Interlake on Thursday, it was another nail biter. Freshman Jacob Feng showed steady resolve and confidence as he beat Nikhil Sirivara in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Sophomore Daniel Pong ground out a gritty, tough nosed win. After losing the first set 4-6, he won the second 6-3, digging into his mental resolve and confidence to earn a 10-8 third set tiebreaker win. Peng and Tsiktsiris continued their role, defeating Oscar Li and Mohib Mujtaba Jafri 6-1, 6-1. After some close and back-and-forth battles, Interlake prevailed overcame Bellevue 4-3.
The group looks to improve their league record vs Sammamish and Liberty next week.
Go Bellevue!!!

Last week volleyball was at Liberty and then at home versus Sammamish. At Liberty both JVC and JV played some exciting volleyball marked by long rallies leading to competitive play. JVC and JV won their matches 2-1. Varsity completed the night sweep winning their match 3-1 and notching their first win of the season. Leading the way to the win were 5 aces by Allison Kim, 7 kills by Ellie Edie and 6 kills by Kathryn Huhs. On Wednesday, JVC continued their success defeating Sammamish 3-0 as did JV also winning all 3 of their sets. Varsity dropped their match 3-0 despite a 9-kill night by Kathryn and a 7 kill night by Ellie Eide. Next week we have 2 important conference matches. We are at Highline HS on Monday and the at home against Interlake HS. Match times are 5:15 for JVC and JV and 7:00pm for varsity.
Go Wolverines!

Bellevue opened the second week of its season with a non-league matchup against Interlake-Sammamish at Edgebrook Pool. The Wolverines took command early and, in a refreshing change of pace, never made things unnecessarily dramatic.
With a comfortable lead, Bellevue worked through its rotation and gave its bench valuable playing time. Contributions came from throughout the lineup as the Wolverines cruised to a 10–3 victory.
On Thursday, Bellevue hosted Gig Harbor in a matchup expected to be highly competitive—and it delivered.
Gig Harbor opened with a two-goal lead before scoreboard issues brought the game to a temporary halt. Bellevue used the unexpected timeout wisely, making adjustments while everyone else presumably tried to determine whether technology was helping or hurting the sport.
Once play resumed, the contest became a back-and-forth defensive battle. Bellevue pulled ahead in the fourth quarter behind strong offensive play from sophomore Matthew Wan, securing an impressive 8–6 victory and making an early statement in league competition.
Later that evening, Bellevue’s JV team faced a strong Gig Harbor lineup. The Wolverines battled hard but fell 6–2, with Jeffrey Chien and Rohan Pillai scoring Bellevue’s goals.
Bellevue’s varsity players then traveled to Rogers High School for the inaugural Yeti Invitational, featuring high school and club teams from across the Northwest—because apparently two games during the week were not enough.
The Wolverines went 3–0 on Saturday with victories over Curtis JV, Gig Harbor, and Mountain View High School. Bellevue continued its unbeaten tournament run Sunday morning, defeating Newport by four goals.
Bellevue was scheduled to face Roosevelt in the semifinals Sunday afternoon, with final placement to be decided later that evening.
The Wolverines return home on Tuesday afternoon to host Curtis in what should be another competitive matchup. The game will also conclude Bellevue’s first round of league play—assuming the scoreboard cooperates this time.
| GIRLS SWIM & DIVE -SWIVE 😊

The Bellevue Girls Swim & Dive team had a fantastic showing at last week's double dual meet with Inglemoor, and Juanita/Bothell! The team brought plenty of energy, teamwork, and fast swimming to the pool, finishing the meet with a 124-59 victory over Inglemoor.
There were plenty of highlights throughout the meet, including 8 individual event wins for Bellevue. Congratulations to Brooklyn Lang, Natalie Chang, Claire Gao, Khloe Nguyen, Mila Alkhazov, Kiki Pfeiffer, and Blakely Biege on their first-place finishes! Heather Wong also took first in the 1-meter dive with a personal best score of 167.95.
Our relay teams continued to show just how much depth and teamwork this group has. The 200-medley relay of Brooklyn Lang, Jessica Li, Bella Wong, and Claire Gao took first in 1:51.51, followed by another first-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay by Brooklyn Lang, Bella Wong, Natalie Chang, and Claire Gao in 1:41.85.
Most importantly, it was another great opportunity for our swimmers and divers to race, support one another, and continue building as a team. Congratulations to everyone who competed and contributed to a terrific meet!

The Boys Golf team moved to 4-0 with a solid 188-201 victory over Sammamish this week.
Boden Freeborn led the way for the Wolverines with an even par 35. Boden barely missed a hole-in-one on the 8th hole, which is the toughest tee shot on the course. Gordy Rounds was next for the Wolverines shooting a 37 that was highlighted by a 310-yard drive on the 9th hole that left him with a short chip and putt for birdie. Eric Kim's 38 was followed by 39's from Jasper Liao and Edeun Park. Jasper's return from a back injury was a big lift for BHS. Also, a special shout-out to junior Austin He for firing a career-best 40!
The Wolverines have a huge week ahead with 3 matches. On Tuesday Bellevue takes on pre-season Kingco favorite Inglemoor, followed by matches with Renton and Mercer Island on Wednesday and Thursday.
