February Students of the Month
ANNELIESE JOHNSON
Class of 2022

Senior, Anneliese Johnson, loves to sing. Every choir class she has taken at North has been phenomenal. Madrigal Singers with Mr. Hopta and Freshman Choir, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Show Choir with Mrs. Cudworth were all great experiences. Anneliese does not feel she wasted a second of her time with any of them. She also really enjoyed Ms. Fedorko’s Public Speaking class and Mr. Angeline's AP Music Theory class because they were amazing to be in. After school, Anneliese does after school choirs and theater. She is a section leader in the after school choirs, Chamber Choir and Show Choir, and is also a Show Girl Head, which is a leadership position in the Theater Department. Anneliese was Music Student of the Month this past January and is also this year's Choir Class President. Outside of school, she is a member of a cappella group called In Treble that she helped found and has a part time job at McDonalds. One of Anneliese’s favorite memories was from sophomore year during the Winter School Assembly. The choir sang Magnificent Horses, an insanely fast piece. Singing the National Anthem this year at one of the Pep Rallies was also a memory she will never forget. Next year, Anneliese plans to major in Music or Music Education. Throughout her years at North, she has come to realize that high school is hard. Anneliese cannot count the amount of times she has wished for graduation day to come sooner. But as graduation gets closer, she realizes she is going to miss being at North.
MIA VITIELLO
Class of 2022

Mia Vitiello is the Editor in Chief of Northern Lights Art and Literary Magazine. Mia’s role involves leading meetings and discussions, organizing quarterly blogs, advertising, and putting together the yearly magazine at the end of the second semester. She is also Team Manager for the Girls Varsity Soccer Team, takes part in the Luminaria Committee during Relay for Life, and participates in fundraising activities for Interact. Mia is a member of National, English, Spanish, and Social Studies Honor Societies. She is the group leader for a basket for the Trivia Bowl Night, which raises funds for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Throughout her years at North, she has developed a passion for history. Mia thinks of her history class as a room of people listening to a big story that a lot of other people around the world know too. Because of this, Mia’s favorite class at North is Mr. Yocum's AP World History course. For a majority of her educational career she has listened to American History. After six retellings of the same story, she was craving more. When Mia stepped into Mr. Yocum's class, she was thrilled to hear that she knew absolutely nothing of the load of content they were about to embark upon. Even through the hybrid year, Mr. Yocum kept the rigorous course engaging and fun...he was telling the story she wanted to hear. While the class flipped through the pages of Genghis Khan and Napoleon Bonaparte, she was not only living out her Bill and Ted dream, but was forming a desire to continue her education further in this field. AP World History was a course that made her realize there is a lot more to the world than just thirteen colonies and twenty-six teenagers in a classroom. Mia’s high school experience has definitely been an interesting one to say the least. Three months into sophomore year, she received a concussion by smacking her head on a school bathroom paper towel dispenser. Although it was not funny when she was seeing stars and being home from school, reflecting back on the way it happened has to be one of her top memories from high school. Another memory is watching football games on the hill by the scoreboard on Friday nights her freshman year. Talking with friends, meeting new people, getting food from the snack shack in the cold, and celebrating the team's victories will always remain a favorite. Mia will always cherish the times she hung out with friends in the locker room after school. As team manager, she was able to become best friends with some of the school athletes. Mia very thankful for her friends and for all of the memories she made at North. She will forever hold those memories in her heart. Mia is committed to Boston College for school next year. She plans to major in both Education and History. Mia is a singer, a volunteer, and parent helper. She performs once a week at Hunterdon Academy of the Arts and volunteers at the local library along with being a parent helper for her neighbors with two kids.
February Athletes of the Month
DELANIE DIBIAGIO
Class of 2022

Delanie DiBiagio has been cheerleading for the past 13 years. Delanie has made the Varsity Cheerleading Team all four years at North. Her strongest skills in cheerleading are tumbling, stunting, and jumping. Delanie is a side base and a flyer. The girls recently placed fifth out of 67 teams at the High School Cheerleading Nationals in Orlando, Florida. They have also been invited to compete in the America's Cup competition, which is an invite only competition. In October, the team earned first place and overall champions at the Skyland's competition. They also won first place and overall champions at the Del Val Cheerleading Challenge, first place at the Pocono Cheerleading Regional, and were Gameday Grand Champs at the Hunterdon Warren Sussex Competition. Delanie was awarded the NJCDCA All-State award, which recognizes the top 25 cheerleaders in New Jersey. She has also been awarded the All-American Cheerleader award. At North, Delanie takes classes at the Hunterdon County Polytech. She takes courses for exercise science and is dually enrolled with Raritan Valley Community College. Delanie is an executive member of the Interact Club, a leader for the Relay For Life Committee, team leader for Special Olympics, a member of the Unified Social Club, a member of Student Ambassadors, and a member of National Honor Society. Cheerleading at North has given Delanie many opportunities. It has taught her to never give up and always work towards her goals. Delanie hopes to cheer in college next year. She is currently waiting to hear from different schools, but her top choices are Penn State University, Clemson University, and Florida.
ANITA LABELLE
Class of 2022

Senior, Anita LaBelle says the North Hunterdon Fencing Team has provided her with her fondest memories and closest friends. Being a part of the team has added a bright spot to the normally cold and dark winter season, and she is grateful for all the opportunities it has provided. Anita is the Foil Squad Captain of the Varsity Fencing Team. The foil squad recently placed third in districts and will be moving forward to compete at the state tournament. Earlier in the season, the foil squad took third at the Knights Tournament hosted at Gill St Bernard’s, where she had an undefeated record of 7-0. Anita prides herself on providing support for her teammates and lending a laugh to keep the morale high. The foil squad would not be what it is today without the close camaraderie between the team members, as they help each other through every bout and spend time outside of the school having fun doing activities like axe throwing. Anita is Vice President of the Class of 2022, the co-president of Amnesty International, Vice President of the Diversity Club, and part of the WHAM club. She is a member of Math Honor Society, English Honor Society, Science Honor Society, History Honor Society, German Honor Society, National Honor Society, and plays tenor sax for the school’s Jazz Band. Anita started fencing her freshman year of high school and is considering continuing to fence at the club level next year. Fencing would be just for fun. She is interested in trying new things once she gets to college. Anita will either be attending the University of Edinburgh or Rutgers University for International Relations and Film Studies. She knows it has been wonderful to compete in fencing alongside her twin, Phillip. They both share a passion for fencing and music, given both of them fence foil and play the piano. Although Anita has tried her hand at other sports like cross country and pole vaulting, her real joy comes from learning new instruments. Besides the piano, Anita can play the guitar, ukulele, flute, and saxophone (both alto and tenor). In the future, she plans to take a stab (no pun intended) at some harder instruments like the accordion or bagpipes.

Based on the Hans Christian Anderson story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written & directed by John Musker & Ron Clements. Originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."

Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea. Add in some Mer-sisters, electric eels, and zaney gulls, and audiences are sure to enjoy North Hunterdon's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid!!
