We’re so grateful to our SMG community for the way you’ve embraced the SMG Week of Giving. We could all use a reason to celebrate this year, so let's make a fancy drink before we raise our virtual paddles. Thank you to Dr. Vince Sevier for providing our school with both his expertise on Covid-19 and his talent for making a delicious cocktail. Dr. Sevier suggested that we keep it classic with an Old Fashioned.
To Make a Champion Old Fashioned:
2 oz of bourbon or unsweetened tea
.25 oz demerara gum syrup or simple syrup
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
Luxardo cherries
Orange twist
Buffalo Trace or Elijah Craig small batch bourbons are both good and easy to sip.
Stir Bourbon, syrup and bitters over ice.
Strain into old fashioned glass with a large ice cube/ball or ice.
Express (squeeze) orange twist over drink and rub the rim of glass with the orange twist and put the twist into drink. Pierce 1-2 cherries on toothpick and add to drink. 🥃 Cheers!
