When I hear the word pressure. I am immediately reminded of the song Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie. “Pressure pushin' down on me “ Queen and David Bowie were not singing about Artificial Intelligence, but the line describes what many dealerships are beginning to experience.

Not long ago, a customer with a complaint had to figure out whom to contact, research the law, organize the facts, and write a convincing letter. Many customers did not know where to begin.

AI has changed that.

A customer can now describe a problem and, within minutes, receive:

  • An explanation of their possible rights
  • A professional-looking demand letter
  • A list of laws or regulations that may apply
  • Contact information for regulators and attorneys
  • Instructions for escalating the complaint
  • Responses to the dealership’s explanations

AI gives the customer speed.

AI gives the customer clarity.

Speed + clarity = pressure on the dealership.

That does not mean the information provided by AI is accurate. AI can misunderstand the facts, misapply the law, or make a routine disagreement sound like a major compliance violation. But an inaccurate complaint can still create real problems when it is sent to an attorney, regulator, lender, review site, or social media audience.

Dealerships should assume that every customer now has access to a tool that can turn frustration into a polished complaint almost instantly.

Preparation is the best way to deal with this pressure.  Create a process for reviewing complaints promptly, preserving the relevant records, identifying legitimate compliance concerns, and responding based on the actual facts.

AI has shortened the distance between a dissatisfied customer and an escalated complaint.
