Dodge Park and Oasis at Dodge Park have once again been recognized for excellence in senior care — earning the Caring Super Star Award for 2026 from Caring.com, as well as being named a Family Favorite Community for the year! 🎉
These special honors mean so much to us because they are based on what truly matters — the voices of our residents’ families and loved ones. Your kind words, heartfelt reviews, and ongoing trust in our care made these recognitions possible.

Lawmakers behind bipartisan push for legislation detecting and preventing Alzheimer’s: ‘It’s too expensive not to’
House Reps. Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.) and Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.), co-sponsors of the Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act, said Thursday that proactively addressing Alzheimer’s disease is “too expensive” of an issue for Congress to ignore.
Appearing on Thursday at The Hill’s “Getting a Diagnosis ASAP: Progress in Early Alzheimer’s Detection” event, sponsored by the Alliance for Aging Research, the two congressmen discussed why their bill, the ASAP Act, is crucial.

My wife has been at Dodge Park for two and one-half years now. I cannot speak too highly of the staff. They are wonderful, caring workers. They respond to my questions and concerns quickly and professionally. The facility is clean and they are always decorating according to the season. I am so pleased that I found a place I can entrust my wife to.

The rooms are neat, clean and comfortable for the little time the residents spend there. Each room has a bird feeder outside the window that is kept full by the staff. The staff are very attentive. All of the residents sit in a "family room" where there are activities - exercise, music, games. The staff to resident ratio is very high. Staff includes maintenance, food service, nursing, aides, owners, and reception. Include everyone because they ALL interact with the residents by name. They are friendly and engaging and will stop along their way to say "Hi! How are you?" My aunt is very well cared for here and I feel very comfortable when I am not able to stop in as often as I would like.

The rooms are roomy, very clean, tv, closet , shower, clean linens, windows for sunlight, closely monitored, overall excellent. Laundry included. The food is very appealing with a very good variety, allergies are addressed in preparation. Staff are very friendly and caring. There are many activities, live entertainment daily, music, and movies every night. This is an excellent facility for dementia patients. My husband has dementia and has improved very much since he has been here. All in all I am very pleased with everything regarding this facility and highly recommend it. Security is top notch.

Ben & Micha,
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Ben, Micha, and all the staff members at Dodge Park for their dedication and exemplary service each and every day.
Recently, I had the opportunity to bring the Pastor from my father’s and my church to visit my dad and tour Dodge Park. Although he has visited many facilities, including Oasis, this was his first experience at Dodge Park.
Upon our departure, Pastor expressed his admiration for several aspects of the facility:
· Cleanliness: He noted how every room was neatly made up and spotless, and he was particularly impressed that the entire facility was free of any unpleasant odors.
· Resident Engagement: Pastor observed that the residents were up and out of bed, which contributes to a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
· Staff Professionalism: He appreciated the politeness of the staff, particularly how they acknowledged and greeted my dad by name.
While no place is perfect, it is evident that the management and staff at Dodge Park strive to come as close to perfection as possible through their hard work and commitment.
Thank you, Ben, Micha, and the entire Dodge Park team, for being there for our loved ones.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Mosher

Micha,
Thank you so very much for this note. There is not enough thanks I could possibly give for the care your team provided for my mother. The level of kindness and respect that you all provided to my mother, and for all you residents, is an act of true service. I hope you realize how much easier you make caring for elderly parents because of the incredible environment you have created at Dodge. You eliminated my worries and made each day easier for my mom. My mother was truly blessed to have spent her last two years with you. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for my mom having had the privilege to reside at Dodge and receive the care from your team.
My sincerest thanks,
Shannon

To the entire team At Dodge Park,
Thank you for helping to make Irene birthday celebration so great! Yesterday, many of our family members gathered to celebrate our mom’s upcoming 86th birthday, and we were so grateful to have such a wonderful space to do so.
Even more than that, we truly appreciated how incredibly helpful and kind Diana and the entire staff at Dodge Park was, to help us make this a special visit for mom.
Mom was in a wonderful mood—happy, singing, and celebrating. While she was certainly glad to see all of us, it was also clear that her joy reflects the attentive care you provide every day. Your focus on her medical needs and on ensuring she is comfortable and content truly shows. We could see how well she is cared for, and we are all deeply thankful for that.
A huge thank you and a happy and healthy New Year to everyone at Dodge!

History of World Party Day
The inspiration for World Party Day stems from a novel entitled, “Flight: A Quantum Fiction Novel” written by American author, Vanna Bonta. Published in 1995, the novel ends with — spoiler alert — a big party. Actually, it ends with a synchronized worldwide celebration that takes place on April 3. In real life, groups of people found each other sharing the same goals of peace and the want to utilize human intelligence and resources toward global humanitarian progress. Bringing together people in the name of social change, it became a worldwide phenomenon involving millions of people, corporations, and organizations working together to contribute positively to the future of the earth and humanity.
The day itself isn’t associated with any religious or political connections, meaning anyone is able to join in on the celebrations. After all, partying itself is a “universal human right to fun, peace, and life.” All you really need to do to join in is to party. It’s a tough job, but someones gotta do it, in the name of tradition. You can party with a group of strangers, some of your best friends, your pets, your significant other, or your reflection — as long as you do you, you’re doing it right.
No need to RSVP here. The entire world has been formally invited to love, create, dance, and party for nearly 25 years. This holiday is literally meant to showcase joy all around the world, a sentiment that is depicted in Bonta’s novel. In the words of “Flight: A Quantum Fiction Novel” itself, “The people knew what had made them human. It was not their shortcomings, but their hearts.”

History of Armenian Appreciation Day
Ancient Armenia suffered constant foreign interference and finally lost its autonomy in the 14th century. Over the centuries, Ottoman and Persian conquerors ruled the region and threatened the very existence of the Armenians. Russia annexed Eastern Armenia during the 19th century, while western Armenia remained under Ottoman rule.
On May 28, 1918, the region of Armenia that had previously been a part of the Russian Empire proclaimed its independence. However, in 1920, Soviet Russia and Turkey employed force to invade. From 1894 to 1897, the Armenians were brutally killed in the Hamidian massacres. Sultan Abdul Hamid II was responsible for ordering the killings. About 100,000 to 300,000 fatalities and an estimated 50,000 children were orphaned.
During World War I, the Ottoman Empire orchestrated the systematic destruction of the Armenians and their identity. They committed mass murder of around one million Armenians during death marches to the Syrian Desert. Armenian women and children were subjected to forced Islamization. Between 1915 and 1916, Talaat Pasha, an Ottoman politician, ordered that Armenian women, children, and elderly or infirm people be sent on death marches through the Syrian Desert. An estimated 800,000 to 1.2 million people went through this horrific treatment. The Armenian genocide destroyed more than two millennia of Armenian civilization. However, the Turkish government defends the deportation of Armenians as a legitimate action and denies that it was genocide. Despite these troubles, the Armenians are a proud and prosperous people today.

History of National Find a Rainbow Day
Rainbows are caused by the reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light in water, resulting in a visual spectrum of light appearing in the sky, taking the form of a multicolored arc. They always appear on the side of the sky directly opposite to the sun.
Don’t go chasing rainbows, because they’re not necessarily located at a specific distance from where you observe them. They’re an optical illusion viewed from a certain angle to a relative light source, meaning the closer you try to get, the further away it goes. Even if you see someone who appears to be standing right beneath the rainbow, they’ll see a different rainbow further off into the distance. In the words of Kermit the Frog, “Rainbows are visions, they’re only illusions, and rainbows have nothing to hide.”
In 1979, Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher wrote the iconic “Rainbow Connection” performed by Kermit the Frog (Jim Henson) in The Muppet Movie, creating many young children’s and adults’ new favorite song. Henson told them that the opening scene should feature Kermit sitting by himself, playing a banjo and singing. Williams and Ascher wrote the majority of the song fairly quick, but got stuck on the chorus. While explaining to Williams’ then-wife, Kate, over dinner their predicament, they said they needed a phrase that would “provide a rainbow connection.” However, while explaining it, they realized that “rainbow connection” was the exact phrase they needed. Basically, rainbows are more than science — they’re pretty magical too. That’s the rainbow connection.

History of National Chocolate
Mousse Day
Like us, we hope you too have your spoons ready for National Chocolate Mousse Day. After all, you wouldn’t want to miss the chocolatey deliciousness for anything.
Chocolate mousse, as the name suggests, originated in France. It is not clear when exactly the dish was invented, but a few clues in history do allow us to put together some semblance of an idea. Chocolate first came to France back in 1615. While chocolate was being incorporated in other desserts, it wasn’t until the 1800s when chocolate mousse was finally invented. Mousse, at this point, had already become a part of the savory French cuisine.
After the French, chocolate mousse found popularity with Americans. There are varying accounts of when chocolate mousse was introduced to the masses in the U.S. One instance states that chocolate mousse’s recipe was advertised in the “Brooklyn Daily Eagle” for a cooking class by Miss Parloa in 1887. But other two accounts say that the recipe was revealed by A) an exposition in 1892 and B) the “Boston Daily Globe” in the Housekeepers Column in 1892.
These differing accounts do leave us dizzy with confusion but it does not matter in the end because we are here for the chocolate mousse. Today, the dessert is enjoyed in a variety of ways, be it with berries, seasonal fruits, etc. People all over the world have come to love it for its deliciousness concocted from a simple combination of eggs, chocolate, and froth.

🌿 Self-Care Strategies Designed Specifically for Introverts
Honoring Quiet Strength, Especially in Times of Change
In a world that often celebrates busyness, noise, and constant social interaction, introverts can sometimes feel overlooked—or even misunderstood. But introversion is not a weakness. It is a strength rooted in reflection, depth, and meaningful connection.
For older adults—and especially those navigating cognitive changes—honoring personal energy levels becomes an essential part of well-being. Self-care for introverts isn’t about doing more… it’s about doing what truly restores the spirit.
🌸 What Does Self-Care Look Like for Introverts?
Unlike traditional ideas of self-care that may focus on social outings or group activities, introverted self-care emphasizes calm, comfort, and meaningful solitude.
Here are several strategies that can make a meaningful difference:
🕯️ 1. Create Peaceful, Low-Stimulation Environments
Soft lighting, familiar surroundings, and reduced background noise can have a powerful calming effect. For individuals living with dementia, these environments are not just comforting—they are grounding.
At Dodge Park and Oasis at Dodge Park, we thoughtfully design spaces that feel warm, predictable, and soothing, helping residents feel safe and at ease.
📖 2. Embrace Quiet Activities with Purpose
Introverts often recharge through solo or small-scale activities such as:
- Reading or listening to audiobooks
- Gentle arts and crafts
- Music appreciation
- Gardening or nature observation
These activities encourage engagement without overwhelming the senses, allowing residents to connect with themselves in meaningful ways.
🎵 3. Use Music as a Gentle Connector
Music is a universal language—but for introverts, it can also be a deeply personal experience. Soft, familiar melodies can evoke memories, reduce anxiety, and create moments of joy without requiring conversation.
Our robust music programs—offered daily—allow residents to participate at their own comfort level, whether actively or simply by listening.
🌿 4. Build One-on-One Connections
Introverts often prefer depth over quantity when it comes to relationships. A quiet conversation with a caregiver, a shared smile, or a gentle hand to hold can be far more meaningful than large group interactions.
Our care teams focus on personalized engagement, ensuring each resident is seen, heard, and understood.
🧘 5. Respect the Need to Recharge
Perhaps the most important form of self-care for introverts is simply having permission to rest. Quiet time is not withdrawal—it is restoration.
In our communities, we recognize that every resident has unique rhythms. Some thrive in group settings, while others flourish in peaceful solitude—and both are equally valued.
💙 A Personalized Approach to Care
At Dodge Park and Oasis at Dodge Park, we understand that true care is never one-size-fits-all. Especially in memory care, honoring personality—whether introverted or extroverted—is essential to creating comfort, dignity, and connection.
Our programs are thoughtfully designed to provide structure without pressure, engagement without overwhelm, and connection without intrusion.
Because sometimes, the most meaningful moments happen not in the spotlight—but in the quiet.

Scientists Discover Speech Trait That Foreshadows Cognitive Decline
Early signs of Alzheimer's disease may be hidden in the way a person speaks, but it's not yet clear which details of our diction are most critical for diagnosis.
A study from 2023 suggests that as we age, how we say something may matter more than what we say. Researchers at the University of Toronto think the pace of everyday speech may be a better indicator of cognitive decline than difficulty finding a word.
"Our results indicate that changes in general talking speed may reflect changes in the brain," said cognitive neuroscientist Jed Meltzer when the research was published.

Your body may already have a molecule that helps fight Alzheimer’s
Spermine, a small but powerful molecule in the body, helps neutralize harmful protein accumulations linked to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. It encourages these misfolded proteins to gather into manageable clumps that cells can more efficiently dispose of through autophagy. Experiments in nematodes show that spermine also enhances longevity and cellular energy production. These insights open the door to targeted therapies powered by polyamines and advanced AI-driven molecular design.

This simple habit could help seniors live longer and stay independent
Cycling might be one of the simplest ways for older adults to stay healthier, longer. A 10-year study in Japan found that seniors who rode bicycles had lower risks of needing long-term care and dying—especially those who didn’t drive. Continuing or even starting cycling later in life still delivered noticeable benefits. The results highlight biking as a surprisingly powerful tool for maintaining independence and well-being.

The Oasis assures that each resident has a set of windows that offers plenty of sunlight and a bird feeder, that is filled weekly and offers plenty of opportunity to view birds and the outdoor environment The meals that are offered are nutritious and inviting. Staff are there to assist and encourage individuals to enjoy their meal. The dining room is arranged so that each individual has opportunity to sit with a few others at their table. | | Choosing the Right Senior Health Care Facility |
Many things should be considered when selecting a senior health care facility for your loved one. When Alzheimer’s and Dementia are also part of the equation, these questions become even more important. So, when the time comes to choose a senior health care or memory care facility, consider the following most important questions:
-
What is not included in the daily rate
-
What conditions can’t they handle (physical, mental & behavior)
- Do they have a nurse on site 24/7 for PRN medication (as needed)
- What happens when private funds are gone.
| | The Oasis at Dodge Park Difference |
The environment at the Oasis at Dodge Park is Different
Our home-like environment provides opportunities for residents to have privacy, sufficient lighting, pleasant music and multiple opportunities to eat and drink, in small setting, and also minimizes negative stimuli such as loud overhead paging and glare.
Oasis at Dodge Park has private rooms and bathrooms and the opportunity for residents to have personal furnishings, pictures and other items in their living area. This is their life and their home.
When they are able, residents are encouraged to move freely around the facility with opportunities for safe wandering. This will be able to achieve through our unique enclose garden and indoor open recreation area, where the idea is to bring the outdoor indoor.

Selecting The Right Community For
Your Loved One
| |
Download our FREE Guide for choosing a Residential Care Community for your loved one.
One of life’s greatest challenges is deciding when a loved one is no longer capable of living independently. Often, a time of crisis precipitates this decision, such as when the individual is ready to leave the hospital after a serious illness, or when events make it clear that severe limitations exist.
A good starting place for the family and the individual in need is to discuss the options available for best meeting their needs. A hospital social worker, physician or representative of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs may be helpful. Always she has the right to be involved in this consequential decision.

As spring begins to bloom around Dodge Park and Oasis at Dodge Park, we’re enjoying longer days, brighter sunshine, and the uplifting energy that this season brings to our residents, families, and staff. With more opportunities for fresh air, engaging activities, and joyful moments together, we thought it would be the perfect time to add a little extra laughter. In the spirit of the April 3 national holidays, we’ve gathered a few lighthearted, clean jokes to celebrate the sweetness, color, and simple pleasures of the season.
🍫 1. National Chocolate Mousse Day – The Fancy Dessert
Chocolate mousse is the dessert that makes you feel sophisticated…
even if you’re eating it straight from the container in your kitchen.
You take one bite and suddenly sit up straighter.
You start using words like “rich” and “velvety.”
But let’s be honest—
it’s still chocolate, and you’re still going back for seconds
like it’s your full-time job.
🍫 2. Mousse vs. Regular Dessert
Regular desserts are honest.
Cake says, “I’m cake.”
Cookies say, “I’m cookies.”
Chocolate mousse says,
“I am an experience.”
You don’t just eat mousse.
You pause. You reflect.
You pretend you’re at a five-star restaurant—
even if the TV is on in the background.
🌈 3. National Find a Rainbow Day – The Search
Find a Rainbow Day sounds simple…
until you realize you can’t schedule a rainbow.
You can’t say, “Let’s meet at 3 PM for a rainbow.”
You just have to be ready.
At the right place.
At the right time.
It’s basically nature’s version of a surprise party.
🌈 4. The Rainbow Reaction
The moment someone sees a rainbow, everything stops.
People point.
People smile.
People take pictures from every possible angle.
Even if it’s the tenth rainbow they’ve seen,
it still feels like a once-in-a-lifetime event.
That’s the power of a good rainbow.
🧥 5. National Tweed Day – The Fashion Choice
Tweed is the kind of fabric that says,
“I have my life together.”
You put on tweed and suddenly feel wiser.
More organized.
Possibly ready to give a lecture on something important.
Even if you’re just going to the grocery store.
🧥 6. Tweed Confidence
Tweed doesn’t rush.
Tweed doesn’t panic.
Tweed takes its time.
It’s the outfit version of calm confidence.
And if you wear tweed long enough,
you might start giving advice no one asked for—
but somehow it still sounds correct.
🍫🌈 7. Dessert and Rainbows
April 3 teaches us that life is about balance.
Enjoy the chocolate mousse.
Look for the rainbow.
Because sometimes the sweetest moments
are the ones you didn’t plan.
🧥🍫🌈 8. April 3 Life Lessons
