Come to Sherwood Island Thursdays for Morning Social Hour

Join your fellow Y's Men for coffee, donuts and bagels every Thursday morning through the summer at the Sherwood Island Pavilion. Gatherings are held from 9:00 to 10:00 am through August 29.

No reservations are needed. Just show up and enjoy the free refreshments and conversation.

Following the social hour, an optional walking group forms up to tour Sherwood Island.

Travel Group Meets This Monday, June 24 at 9:00 am

The Y’s Men Travel Group meets from 9:00 to 10:30 am this Monday in Room 203 at the Church. 

All meetings start by our members talking about their recent travel experiences and coming plans. 

The topic for this meeting is:

• How to stop your head from spinning when trying to navigate the many options of using airline miles, hotel points, and credit card points

Additions continue to be made to the Y's Men Travel Reference Doc, located here.

Don't Miss Y's Men Tuesday Evening Picnics at Compo Beach

Summer wouldn't be summer without the Y's Men Tuesday evening picnics at Compo Beach.

Arranged by Y's Man Jon Fox, the gatherings take place on South Beach "642 feet to the right of the cannons." There is no need for a beach sticker. Simply tell them at the entrance that you are attending the Y's Men picnic. It begins about 4:30 to 5:00 pm. Bring your own chairs, finger food, and your choice of beverage perhaps to share (no glass containers are allowed).

If weather is bad (too hot, too cold, rainy), Jon says, "Stay home. Otherwise, just come and enjoy." If additional information is needed, contact Jon by clicking here.

Y's Men Kayak Group Plans Outing to Cockenoe Island

The Y’s Men Kayak Group plans to paddle to Cockenoe Island this Friday (June 21) if weather permits. The Group will depart from the ramp near the kayak storage area on the west side of Compo Beach at 9:30 am. They expect to be out about one and a half to two hours.

Y's Men Backgammon Club Plans Summer Tournament

The Y's Men Backgammon Club's Summer Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Avenue. If you plan to attend, or want additional information, contact Club Chair Woody Bliss at woodybliss@optonline.net or 203-515-8535. If you want lunch, which is $5.00, be sure to call the Center (203-341-5099) to order and reserve it.

The Club meets every Thursday throughout the year and welcomes new members.

Former Y's Man Peter Garcia Passes Away

Peter Garat Garcia, a former Y's Man who left Westport about ten years ago, passed away on January 18 in Broomfield, CO. He was 80. His widow, Gloria, passed away on May 29, also in Broomfield.
