Happy 250 America!

America Turns 250

This Independence Day marks a historic milestone as our nation celebrates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

As communities gather to celebrate, it's also an opportunity to reflect on the generations who helped shape our country through their service, sacrifice, hard work, and resilience.

At ABC Home Healthcare, we are privileged to work with many older adults whose lives and stories are part of that history. We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Fourth of July as we celebrate this special anniversary together.

Protecting yourself from those UV Rays

As we age, our skin becomes more sensitive to the sun’s harmful UV rays, increasing the risk of skin damage, age spots, and skin cancer. For older adults, taking simple steps like wearing sunscreen, protective clothing, and sunglasses can make a lasting difference in protecting long-term health. Learn why UV safety matters for seniors and how easy daily habits can help you stay healthy and active outdoors.

Socal Wellness - Why it's Important

In home care, we see every day how important social connection can be to overall well-being.

For many older adults, regular conversation, companionship, and meaningful engagement can help reduce feelings of loneliness while supporting emotional and physical health.

Because of the impact social connection can have, ABC offers annual training opportunities for our team focused on recognizing social isolation and finding meaningful ways to engage with the individuals we support.

Sometimes it's the small connections that make the biggest difference.

This month's question:

What’s the best way to make sure my loved one stays hydrated during summer months?

As we age, our sense of thirst can decrease, making seniors more vulnerable to dehydration, especially during hot weather. Keep water easily accessible, offer hydrating foods like watermelon and cucumbers, and limit drinks with too much caffeine or sugar. Watching for signs such as dizziness, fatigue, dry mouth, or confusion can also help catch dehydration early and keep your loved one safe and healthy all summer long.
