National Health Center Week Preview
We're gearing up for a weeklong celebration -- with special events at each of our five sites in Quincy, Hull and Taunton -- to mark National Health Center Week (NHCW) 2019 (Aug. 4-10).

This year's NHCW theme “Rooted in Communities” celebrates how community health centers like Manet are providing affordable health care for all and reaching beyond the walls of conventional medicine to address the factors that may cause sickness, such as lack of nutrition, mental illness, homelessness and substance use disorders.
According to the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), health centers across the nation serve more than 28 million people, including 8.4 million children and more than 355,000 veterans. They are helping to reduce health care costs by successfully managing chronic disease in medically vulnerable communities and reducing unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency room visits.

Monday, August 5 - NHCW Kick Off: Focus on Taunton and Attleboro

Tuesday, August 6 , 10 a.m. to noon - Fresh Truck Pop-Up Market
Manet, Houghs Neck, 1193 Sea Street, Quincy
The Fresh Truck offers 20+ different kinds of fresh fruits and veggies.
The first 100 participants will receive $10 worth of fresh produce, thanks to our partner BMC HealthNet Plan !

Wednesday, August 7 ,1:30-3:30 p.m. - Fair Foods $2 a Bag Program
Manet, North Quincy, 110 West Squantum Stree t
Participants receive large bags of mixed fresh produce for a suggested donation of two dollars. Each bag offers about twelve pounds of mixed fresh produce. Plus free info. and giveaways from Senior Whole Health !

Thursday, August 8 , 10 a.m. –noon - Sun Safety
Manet, Hull, 180 George Washington Blvd.
The Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation will be on site with skin analyzer, free sunscreen, and SunAWARE resources to exhibit in celebration of National Health Center week!

Friday, August 9 , 12:30-1:15 p.m. - Tai Chi Demonstration Class
Manet, Snug Harbor, 9 Bicknell Street, Quincy
Learn this gentle form of exercise and stretching with experts from Enhance Asian Community on Health (EACH) . All ages and abilities are welcome to participate in this demonstration!
