Waste Characterization Study COMPLETED

What is still going in the trash these days?

Cascadia Consulting Group completed a follow-up study to a waste sort in 2019 to see what is still going into the trash cans and how much of that can be diverted from the landfills.

The study showed that:

  • 64% of material was Recoverable (SHOULDN'T BE LANDFILLED)
  • 36% was Non-Recoverable (supposed to be landfilled)

Organics was the largest material classification at 45% of waste and 33% of overall recoverable material was compostable (Should go in the GREEN cart).

Self-haul customers had the highest portion of recoverable construction and demolition materials.

Remember to Sort your loads properly!

THERE’S STILL TIME!
