On Tuesday, April 3, all AAUW members with a valid email address in the national membership database should have received an email message from "AAUW vote@simplyvoting.com" with the subject line "AAUW Election 2024." This email includes a link to your online ballot. We encourage all AAUW members to locate this email and to participate in the election process. Members who lack email addresses should receive a printed ballot via U.S. mail by April 15.
If you have not yet received an email with a link to the electronic ballot, please check your Spam folder. If you still don't find the email, or if you experience problems while voting, please contact Jan Van Gasse (janicevangasse@gmail.com) ASAP, and she will notify AAUW to ensure you have the opportunity to vote. Please don't wait until the end of the voting period on May 15 when there might not be sufficient time to remedy problems. If your branch has members who do not have email addresses, please check that they receive a printed ballet by April 15, and notify Jan Van Gasse if they do not.
In addition to the election of national board members, there is an important ballot proposal to change the AAUW bylaws to eliminate the degree requirement for membership. The AAUW Board of Directors has recommended this bylaws amendment to open membership to any individual who supports AAUW’s important mission of advancing equity for women and girls. The AAUW of Michigan Board has also endorsed the proposed bylaws change in a statement of support approved during its February 17, 2024 meeting.
