As fall approaches, there’s plenty happening in Merriam—and we’d love for your business to be part of it!

This October, we’re adding something new to Halloween Happenings—our first-ever Business Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 18. It’s a fun way to showcase your business while engaging with hundreds of local families. We invite you to decorate a trunk, hand out candy, and connect with the community in a memorable way. Details and sign-up information are below—don’t miss out on this great visibility opportunity!

We’re also looking forward to celebrating Merriam’s 75th birthday this fall. From our beginnings as a rail town to today’s thriving business community, your contributions help define who we are and where we’re headed. Come celebrate in downtown Merriam on Thursday, Oct. 23.

Don’t forget to check out Merriam’s newest merch item—the “We Wear Red on Fridays” shirt—grab a bunch so your employees can proudly join the Chiefs Kingdom craze this season!

And as always, we continue to welcome new businesses through ribbon cuttings, features, and visits. If you’re new to Merriam, we want to celebrate with you—so don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know how we can help spread the word.

Thank you for helping make Merriam a strong and connected business community. Here’s to a productive and festive fall season!

What is the best piece of business advice you have been given, or could offer to a new business owner?

My advice to every business owner is simple yet powerful: focus on what you do best and let your team of trusted professionals handle the rest. By honing in on your specialty, you maximize your unique strengths and create a solid foundation for success. Trying to manage every aspect of your business can leave you spread too thin, reducing your effectiveness and limiting growth. Instead, concentrate on your core competencies while building a robust support network. This strategy not only enhances your performance but also ensures every area of your business gets the expert attention it deserves.
