Updates from the Christian Conference Center in Newton, Iowa July 2024

From Your Interim Co-Directors

Summer Camping Season has been so very busy. Over 500 campers have been served with 120 counselors and directors already. It is quickly coming to the time of day camp usage by outside groups and then moving into Retreat Season and our Senior Retreat September 16-18. Thank you so much to everyone who has shared leadership in making Camp Season 2024 a special time of learning and growing together as Disciples. May seeds have been planted that will grow and blossom in days, weeks, months, and years to come.

We appreciate being part of the wider Upper Midwest team. We are glad to be of support to each member as they mutually support us in our work together.

-- Linda and Jerry

Our summer staff tee-shirts say it all: Living on a Prayer!

Summer is flying by so quickly. We are blessed to have a full summer staff of three interns, cooks and helpers, maintenance and cleaning staff, life guards, as well as our faithful volunteers who help keep everything going strong.

Thank you to our interns, Megan Dare, Kiersten Knobbe, and Andrew Stephens. Thank you staff members Crystal Nelson, Greg Champion, Megan James, Ines Cupples. Thank you Josh Patty, Lisa Grace, and Judy Krase. It has taken a team effort to make things happen well.

Finally...Building our Boatright Boathouse will begin in August!

Watch for our calls for volunteers to help put the floor deck on top of the concrete walls when the time is right. We will be building the upper structure together. We expect to have everything done so that boats, life jackets, and lake toys can all be stored safely here this winter.
