Message From the Editor

By: Rob McAngus, AAML Newsletter Editor

Hello Fellows,

As we move into March, I wanted to highlight some of the upcoming important milestones:

March is Women’s History Month, which gives us the perfect opportunity to recognize the countless women who have helped shape family law — and especially AAML — through their example, leadership and mentorship. If there’s a woman whose legal work or influence has impacted you or your practice, please contact me, because I’d love to highlight a story or two.

March is also Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, which reminds us that family law can look very different when developmental or cognitive differences are involved. This is such an important area of practice where shared experiences can really make a difference. If you have experience in this arena, helpful insight or a practice tip that could help others navigate cases involving parties or clients facing developmental disabilities with more understanding and empathy, please consider sharing it.

Finally, as we get ready for the AAML Midyear Meeting in Scottsdale, AZ, I hope you’ll stop by and say hello if you’re attending.

Personally, I love the meetings and look forward to meeting new people each year. If you have ideas on topics, stories or trends you think we should feature in future issues, please come see me, or reach out to me if you are unable to attend. The best ideas for the Newsletter come straight from you. So, please don’t be shy about sharing yours!

See you in Arizona,

Rob McAngus

Sponsored Webinar This Thursday

How to Evaluate AI for Law Firm Marketing

AI marketing strategies that actually work (and drive revenue) are hard to find in a market full of noise. And the wrong tools can mean messy data, more work for staff and unnecessary risk. Join Tim Bedford, partner manager at Scorpion, on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m. CST, for a webinar built for Fellows who want a clearer, safer way to evaluate AI for marketing before investing.

You’ll learn four standards to quickly separate real value from empty claims: legal-specific intelligence, integrated systems, proven results and measurable impact. You’ll also leave with a practical four-step intake flow that helps your firm respond to new leads 24/7 and route clean, accurate information into your case management system, so opportunities don’t slip through the cracks.

Complimentary to all. This program is not eligible for CLE credit.

How to Moneyball Your Family Law Firm

On Tuesday, March 3, at 11 a.m. CST, join Tyler Dolph, CEO of Rocket Clicks and co-owner of Sterling Lawyers, and Anthony Karls, president of Rocket Clicks and co-owner of Sterling Lawyers, for a free, hands-on masterclass where they will walk you through the three critical moves to "moneyball" your family law firm:

  • SCOUT IT: Learn the eight metrics that reveal whether your firm is winning or losing.
  • SPOT IT: Run a 15-minute diagnostic that pinpoints your biggest bottleneck. Is it your answer rate? Show rate? Close rate? You'll know exactly where you're leaking revenue — and what to fix first.
  • PLAY IT: Build the weekly rhythm that turns data into decisions.

Stop running your firm like a practicing attorney and start running it like a CEO with total clarity and control. This webinar is for family law firm owners who are wondering why "busy" never turns into "profitable."

Complimentary to all. This program is not eligible for CLE credit.
