Final determination reports were sent to localities at the end of September, providing each system with a comprehensive overview of its annual performance. These reports mark an important milestone in the monitoring cycle, allowing local systems to review their results, understand their determination status, and begin planning any needed improvements or targeted supports for the upcoming year.

What is a Local Determination Report?

POLL ANSWER AND EXPLANATION

The correct answer is “c”.

A Local Determination Report, formally titled the Local Early Intervention System (LEIS) Monitoring Results & Determination, serves as an annual performance summary for each local early intervention system in Virginia. This report functions much like a yearly report card, outlining how each locality performed on Virginia’s established Monitoring Indicators. Based on these results, every system receives one of four possible determination ratings: Meets Requirements, Needs Assistance, Needs Intervention, or Needs Substantial Intervention.

People Are Making Referrals Via TRAC-IT!

The word is out! Since TRAC-IT’s launch in 2022, the percent of all referrals that come in through the public-facing TRAC-IT referral option has increased annually.

Public – captures any referral made using the Anonymous Referral form (i.e., by public referral sources not logged into the system).

Other – includes all other referrals, including those made by phone, email, users logged into TRAC-IT and referrals created via EMR/EHR file uploads.

When Children Have Behavior that Challenges Others Applying a Trauma-Informed Lens to Providing Individualized Positive Behavior Support

This resource shares how to bring a trauma-informed lens into Individualized Positive Behavior Support (IPBS). It walks through the “4 Rs”: Realize, Recognize, Respond, and Resist.

Re-traumatization, to help teams understand how trauma and stress may be shaping a child’s behavior before jumping to intervention. It also offers ideas for responding in the moment when a child becomes escalated and for building support plans centered on safety, relationships, and skill-building.
