Heritage Oak Home Gets a Spring Upgrade
After living in her home nearly six years, homeowner Cat Rosevear has realized a three-year old dream – a new railing for her front porch! “I realized I wanted a more ‘finished’ look for the porch, and it finally came together just last month.”

“When I decided that I wanted to put on a railing, the first thing I did was to email the Habitat exec to be sure that what I had in mind would be in compliance with the neighborhood guidelines,” said Cat. “Habitat actually sent me a blueprint of what would work on my house.”

Once approved, Cat asked around for a recommendation on who could do the building, got an estimate and saved up the money. “I’m delighted with how it turned out,” said Cat. “It has a nice complete look, plus I like to decorate for holidays, and now I have another place to trim!”
Meet the Construction Committee Chair — Frank Sobrero
When he was leaving church one Sunday, Anne Moore, a member of the Habitat Board of Directors, approached Frank Sobrero and said, “You need to do something. You need to get involved with Nevada County Habitat.”

Get involved he did! That was in 2001 and for the past 20 years, Frank has been involved in building with Habitat, working on 39 of the 42 homes built by Habitat in Nevada County. He loves seeing kids grow up in stable housing.

Prior to retiring in Nevada County with his wife Barbara, a Grass Valley native, Frank worked for AT&T, moving from the Bay Area to Atlanta over a long career. “That was fun,” says Frank. “But this is more fun.”

“So many important jobs get done at Habitat by dedicated volunteers”, says Frank. “I really like getting great teams together to work to help others.”
Money Matters
A home warranty is an annual service contract that protects systems and appliances in the home when they break down or malfunction due to normal wear and tear. Is a home warranty right for you? The Homeowner Support Committee has prepared a fact sheet to help in understanding home warranties. For future reference, you can also find this fact sheet on our Home Insurance Resources page.
