A Note from Headmaster Scott
|
Dear Archway Trivium Families,
This quarter we have come together with hundreds of new students and upwards of 50 new teachers and staff members. We have learned phonograms, designed bar models, recited poetry, and dissected a cow eye. The joy and wonder we see in the classrooms is growing as our scholars learn to follow procedures and engage with meaningful content. Unfortunately, we have had to transition teachers in some of our classrooms. We have had other obstacles as well. In each of these, we have pulled together and exhibited patience, magnanimity, and diligence in overcoming the challenge. We chose for our theme, "Choose Joy Together," and this is what we have done in some many ways. Please enjoy the break. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and renewed on the other side of that break!
Heartily Devoted,
Clay Scott

You may also sign up to meet with specials teachers during conference week. The evaluation meetings are designed so your child's teacher may further describe their academic performance and discuss any questions you may have. These conferences are for parents/guardians only. Quarter 1 Student Evaluations
K-5 student evaluations for Quarter 1 will be available by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7 in the Powerschool Parent Portal. We ask that parents please log on to the parent portal before the office closes for fall break to ensure that you are able to access your account to view your child's evaluations. A successful login attempt will result in a message indicating the portal is closed. The portal will remain disabled until evaluations go out. At that time, the portal will be opened temporarily for you to view your students' report card(s). You will be notified by email on October 7 when evaluations are ready to view.
- If your child was a student at Archway Trivium West or Archway Trivium East last year, you will use the same login as last year.
- If you have new students for the 2022-2023 school year (example: returning 4th grader but a new kindergartener or new from outside of the Great Hearts network), you will receive an email with their Access ID and Password information to add them to your existing account by Wednesday, September 28.
- If you are new to Archway Trivium this year but attended another Great Hearts school last year, you will still use the same login and password that you used last year.
You can access the Powerschool Parent Portal website here. We have found that using Google Chrome or Firefox as your web browser is best. Please reach out to Stefany Dean at sdean@archwaytrivium.org if you have any questions about your Powerschool Parent Portal account.

Congratulations to the newest winners in our Unity in Community drawings that took place earlier this month. We will be announcing what our Grand Prize winners have selected after Fall Break!
As we enter into FALL BREAK, please take a moment to reflect on what our children have learned and experienced in just one quarter. All those things are only possible because we help support the school with the necessary resources to deliver the Great Hearts model we have all chosen for our children. As we close out the first quarter, we have now reached 72% of our Community Investment fundraising goal. Thank you so much to our donor families! We still need the help of our Trivium family not yet on our donor list. We need to raise an additional $73,500 to reach our goal. If 49 more families gave a gift of $1,500, or $150/month in the 10 remaining months of our fiscal year, this would allow us to reach our fundraising goal. If you cannot give a gift of that amount, consider an amount that is feasible for your budget. If you gave $50/month, and we had 147 families do the same, this would also allow us to reach our fundraising goal. Just like our children learn in their math curriculum, different number bonds can allow us to reach the same goal. Please do not hesitate to give because you fear you cannot give enough. Every gift matters. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Family Giving & Community Engagement Officer, Annann Hong, at ahong@archwaytrivium.org or (773) 307-6779. We are grateful for every family that supports the school!

Literary & Historical Figure Day is the Half Day, November 4
Save the Date for our second annual Literary & Historical Figure Day on the half day, Friday, November 4. Scholars are invited to choose a literary or historical figure from the Archway curriculum and come to school dressed as that figure* on Friday, November 4. This is a great way to celebrate our love of history and literature. All students are encouraged to participate!
*Please remember that the character you choose should be from one of the Classics-to-Keep from the K-5 list, Greek or Roman Mythology or a historical character from our History or Science curriculum. It’s very important that your character looks like the author’s description of the character and not a movie version. If your costume will be at all see through, you must wear your uniform underneath. If you choose not to participate, you will need to come in uniform. All costumes must abide by dress code guidelines in the Family Handbook and must exclude any frightening or aggressive costumes or accessories.

Fall is here and we are all excited to keep learning and growing together! Many PSO programs grow from ideas suggested by parents, so we’re asking all families to answer the Fall 2022 Survey. If you would like to be entered into a drawing to win a $25 Amazon gift card, be sure to look for instructions once you submit the survey. This keeps your response anonymous and gives you a chance to win some shopping money! A winner will be randomly selected and notified on 10/31.

Traffic Flow for Student Drop-off/Pick-up
With the expansion of Archway and addition of the new building, there are significant changes to the traffic flow for the upcoming school year. Please carefully review the new Archway Traffic Flow for Student Drop-off and Pick-up and reach out with any questions. Taking the time to understand these procedures will help to ensure the safety of our students/staff and a smooth traffic flow.
Carpooling Update: Our east side pick-up lane has had a faster track and will now be our designated carpool lane.
If you have 2 or more Archway ONLY pick-up cards, you will be guided into this fast-track lane for a faster pick-up. Please be sure to have your pick-up cards ready to show our traffic controllers that you are carpooling so they can guide you to the appropriate lane. To maintain the flow of pick-up, others may be directed to the fast-track lane, but carpools will be given priority. Please do not enter the carpool lanes until you are directed to do so.
As a reminder, if you are picking up Middle School students DO NOT ARRIVE to campus before 3:15 PM. This creates significant delays. If you arrive before 3:15, we will ask you to go back into our pick-up lanes and try again.
Please follow the link below to review the DETAILED Archway Traffic Flow Plan and be sure to share this link with anyone authorized to drop-off/pick-up your children.
