Greetings!
One of the outreach programs of Florida Engineering Society is administrating the MATHCOUNTS Chapter and State Competitions. It's a fun-filled day of math activities for middle school students (grades 6-8) and we could use your help to make this event a success! Our Chapter Competition will be held Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Olympia High School! We are expecting students from 20 schools. Our top competing schools will represent the Central Florida Chapter in the state competition. Winners from each state will advance to the Nationals.
How can you get involved? I'm glad you asked. Read below to find out how to volunteer for our chapter event, sponsor our chapter event, and other opportunities for you to be involved in MATHCOUNTS.
Volunteering
We're seeking volunteers to help with proctoring, scoring, registration, and lunch. No strong math background is required, just a willingness to help! The competition will be held at Olympia High School, 4301 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Most of the volunteer positions that need to be filled are for morning (8:00 AM to 1:00 PM), and we have some need for afternoon volunteers (11:30 AM to 5:00 PM). No strong math background is required, just a willingness to help!
Please pass this invite on to your friends and colleagues. The MATHCOUNTS committee works hard to have a successful event each year, and a large part of that success is due to the volunteers! Click on the link below to register for a volunteer position. Email us at cflmathcounts.volunteer@gmail.com if you have any questions about the event or how to register. New this year is that all volunteers will have to have a background check. Details of the process to satisfy this request can be found at:

Please send your proof of completion to cflmathcounts.volunteer@gmail.com.
Sponsoring
The Chapter Competition is funded primarily through the Central Florida Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society, and events like the golf tournament provide some funding for the event. However, we are always looking for additional sponsorships specifically for the MATHCOUNTS. We can take online donations through this link (use your Online Donations Central Florida Chapter link), being sure to select "Central Florida Chapter" in the Chapter drop-down. You can also mail a check to 2009 Lake Drive, Winter Park, FL 32879. Checks can be made to "Florida Engineering Society Central Florida Chapter".
Additional Opportunities
Our MATHCOUNTS committee can use your help. You could join this committee and be part of the planning process to support the competition and Central Florida Students in the local competition. Stephanie Shealey leads our MATHCOUNTS committee. If you are interested in helping out behind the scenes for next years competition, please reply to this email for more information and to become part of this committee.
The State Competition will be held on Friday, March 14th at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. The State Competition needs volunteers to fill the same roles as our Chapter Competition.
