Fall 2023
Dear Friends,
We are saddened at the passing of a true Waldport treasure,
Colleen Nickerson.
1940-2023.
Colleen served as curator of the Waldport Heritage Museum and co-founded the Alsi Historical & Genealogical Society in the early 1990s. Her dream of moving the Waldport Museum from its Grant Street location to the Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center came true when the City of Waldport acquired the facility and invited Colleen to move the Museum in 2020. Since reopening the facility with the Museum inside on July 1, 2021, Colleen greeted more than 15,000 residents and visitors, always there to answer questions, search records, and proudly show all the artifacts, accounts, photos, stories and depictions of Waldport from its ancestral days of the Alsi Indians to the present. She will be missed, and we are grateful for the legacy she created for generations to enjoy.
This Fall edition of Waldport Tidings features member profiles, a reflection on the past Spring and Summer months, and a look ahead at what's happening throughout the greater Waldport area.
Warm regards,
Tom
