I hope many of you found relaxation and joy on Mother’s Day. As I reflect on being a mother and now a grandmother, I feel it has taken similar patience and persistence as developing my artistic abilities.
The study of color mixing alone is a lifelong journey, as is being a Mom. How to mix tenderness with firm structure for a child is as challenging as knowing if the light on a scene is warm or cool, where to be soft edged and where to put down a hard edge. How gray to paint the depth in a scene is like knowing how much to let go and how much to hold on. Parenting and Painting are a push and pull on many fronts.
Congratulations to all you Moms who have persisted in being present and caring for years!
