Hello!

It happens frequently: a conversation turns to the intricacies of paying for long-term care and the eyes glaze over. Are they in denial? Bored? Both?

Sometimes it is best to get right to the point: exactly how much long-term care costs and how much it's gone up over the last few years. Thanks to the team at CareScout for assembling this information in their annual Cost of Care survey comparing costs from 2022-2025.

The national hourly cost for in-home, non-medical care is now $35/hour

In-home care is often calculated at 44 hours a week for 52 weeks to account for the time you need to work and commute to and from your job.

The annual national median cost for an assisted living community is now $74,400, up 5% from 2024 based on the monthly fee multiplied by 12 months.

Coming in at the highest annual national median cost is Private Room Nursing Home care at $129,575 based on $355 a day for 365 days. A shared room comes in at $114,975 annually.

The Bottom Line

You can expect costs to vary based on your location, caregiver supply, facility availability and personal preference. With over 10,000 Baby Boomers turning 65 per day, demand for care services and facilities will only increase.

The best time to make a plan for the risk of needing to pay for long-term care is before you need it, not after an event happens. Get started today by replying to this email or calling me at 480.515.2715.
