The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Genesis 39:1-23

What didn't go wrong for Joseph? He went from being the "golden boy" at home to being a slave in Egypt. He even landed in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Yet, through all of it, the scripture tells us that God is still at work. He prospers the efforts of Joseph so that even in his difficult circumstances, there is goodness. Even when nothing is as it should be, there is blessing.

Faithful God, with you all things are possible. When things are out of control in our lives, help there to be goodness and blessing. Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

The annual congregational meeting will take place on Sunday, October 4 immediately after the 10:30AM service in the Sanctuary.

• Help us to work on behalf of all who lack resources to defend themselves, to enact unbiased laws, and to elect wise and impartial judges.
• Prosper the work of all those who labor in the field of environmental justice, ecosystem restoration, and all disciplines concerned with caring for your beautiful creation.
• Guide and protect all who are imprisoned due to standing up and speaking truth to power.
• We lift to you all those in our congregation, community, nation, and world who are dealing with illness, injury, or recovering from surgery. Guide all caregivers in their service to their patients.
• Give us appreciation for those who do the jobs some might deem menial or less noble. Help us to see your face in the faces of all who serve us in any way.
• Inspire us by the example of your saints to follow in the way of faith and hope.

God who created all that is, we place all for whom we pray, both aloud and in the silence of our hearts, into your loving arms. Amen.

Sweeney, contains stories of the town where she previously served and offers reflections on how the common experience of death brings clarity to what matters in life. This study will take place Thursday evenings at 7pm, October 29 - November 19. Books can be purchased online wherever books are sold. Click HERE to see the reading schedule.
