Make a Primary Plan!

As we close in on the primary election on July 30th, the Pinal County Elections Department is focused on Election Day operations as well as the tabulation of early ballots. Accurately counting votes is a meticulous process that requires attention to detail and adherence to established procedures. Each ballot must be carefully signature verified and reviewed before it can be tabulated accurately.

Factors such as unreadable markings, unclear voter intent, and damaged ballots can complicate the process further. Ensuring the integrity of the election results is crucial, and our procedures are designed to verify and validate each vote cast.

These steps are essential to upholding the democratic principles of transparency and fairness in the electoral process. Rushing through the vote-counting procedure can lead to inaccuracies and discrepancies that may compromise the credibility of the election outcome. Therefore, it is imperative that sufficient time is allocated for this critical task to be completed accurately and responsibly.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, we will post the first set of results from early balloting on our website and upload them to the Secretary of State's office. Then the waiting game begins as we prepare for voted ballots to be returned to the PINAL VOTES facility from our 94 polling places for tabulation.

In the days following Election Day, we'll update the results as we continue to process and tabulate early ballots dropped off at the polling place. The final certification of the results by the Board of Supervisors is scheduled for August 12.
