Welcoming Sasha Cooke to the NW!

We are excited to welcome mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke to the festival this summer, but it will be a return NW appearance for her this year, as she recently starred in the Seattle Opera's production of Carmen. Our very own Festival Manager Linda Slone (right) and Lopez Island Concert Coordinator Suzanne Trebnick (left) greeted Sasha in Seattle after her recent Mother's Day performance.

Flowers!

OICMF will honor our many volunteers this summer, including our flower team, with images in our program by festival photographer Barry Carlton. The Flower Team has openings for new members to join in the fun and creativity of constructing the arrangements that grace Orcas Center each August. In addition to the beautiful arrangements seen on stage and in the lobby and Madrona Room, an ever-changing series of blooms delights the performers in their backstage areas. Five mornings in August (Tuesdays and Fridays) are the primary creative times, but there are other days when help is useful, and schedules are flexible. A love of flowers is the only qualification needed; new volunteers start where they are comfortable. Please contact the Festival office at 360-376-6636 if you have the desire to join in the fun!

Also, if you have garden flowers that bloom in August and would like to contribute some of them to add to the palette available to our arrangers, the Flower Team would be very happy to talk with you.
