Athletes of the Rx Weightlifting Club and Rx Powerlifting Club flew to Columbus at the beginning of March to compete at the Arnold Sports Festival, and they certainly made us proud! Coach Morgan and Coach Reggie led a team of 9 lifters to perform on the USAW platforms over the weekend, with some all-star appearances, PRs, and even some podium placements amongst athletes from all over the world!
Coach Morgan, Afua Yeboah, Dylan Lingenau, Finna Wang, Jake Brenza, Julia Key, Caitlyn Lee, Isa Coldebella, and Dean Moraites all showed up to show off, but that’s not all we saw - Caitlyn Lee finished with meet PRs 71kg snatch and 94kg clean & jerk, Julia Key also PR’d both her snatch and clean & jerk with 80kg and 103kg, and Jake Brenza took the Bronze overall for the weekend and broke the clean & jerk record for all of New England after his 144kg snatch with 182kg!
On the other side of the arena, Coach Nadia and Rx Powerlifting's Sara Garamszegi (who went 3 for 3 with nothing but white lights) competed in the A7 Bench Press competition, and not only did Nadia earn a 2.5kg meet PR and a cash prize, they achieved the 8th heaviest bench press in MA state history, and the 55th heaviest bench for women in the history of the sport! Congratulations Nadia and Sara!

2024 New England Kettlebell Classic
The last weekend of March saw the second annual New England Kettlebell Classic, developed and hosted by Coach Jeff and the Rx Kettlebell Club, featuring athletes from as far as California, and even one competitor from the other side of the big pond in Israel! The event was a huge success, and every athlete not only performed at their peak, they seemed to have a great time! (overall happiness is a big deal when you have to finish hundreds of reps without dropping the bell!)
The athletes of the Rx Kettlebell Club put on great performances, especially since for several of them, it was their first meet. Andrew Lysaght achieved his Rank 1 in the 10:00 2-Arm Long Cycle and 5:00 Snatch, while Natalie Brown also earned her Rank II in 5:00 Snatch, and Stacy Christopher hit a new total PR in 14kg Biathlon! (10:00 Jerk and Snatch) To top off the day, Al Maler and and Alton Ferreira achieved the Candidate for Master of Sport ranks, and both Al and Maude Gorman were invited to join the US National Team and Coach Jeff to compete at the IKMF World Championships in May!
April 05, 2025 will be the date of the third annual New England Kettlebell Classic, mark your calendars and start training now!
| IKMF World Championships 🇩🇰 | We are thrilled to announce that the Rx Kettlebell Club will be sending three athletes - Jeff Butterworth (yes, Coach Jeff is competing again!), Maude Gorman, and Al Maler - with the US National Team to compete at the IKMF World Championships in Denmark, May 4-5 of this year! For those who aren’t aware of what this event entails, just imagine choosing a bell that is reasonably challenging to lift and press; then swing that bell between your legs, clean it to your shoulder, press it overhead… and continue doing that for 30 minutes straight. Jeff, Maude, and Al have been training tirelessly to prepare for this event so that they can make not only Rx Strength Training, but the entire American kettlebell community proud. Maude will be lifting 16kg (more than 30% of her bodyweight), Al will be lifting the 24kg green monster, and Jeff will be lifting the 32kg red devil! The international championships will be held from May 4 through May 5, and all three athletes will absolutely need your cheers and support, so we will keep you posted on how you can dial in to the livestream for their sets! | |

Coach Chris is Going to USPA Nationals! | Coach Chris had a huge day at the USPA Rhode Island State Championship, hosted by the TOP Strength Project! Not only did he achieve a DOUBLE bodyweight raw bench press of 120kg, his gold medal performance secured his spot at the USPA National Championship in Niagara Falls for June this year! Weighing in at 65kg/143lbs, Chris crushed his total with a 200kg/440lbs squat, 120kg/286lbs bench press, and 235kg/418lbs deadlift - that’s a lot of weight for one day’s work! Stay tuned for the livestream info, so you can watch Chris hit even bigger numbers on the national stage!
New England Weightlifting Smashfest | The New England Weightlifting State Organization will be hosting their latest Smashfest at Rx Strength Training this Saturday, 4/27! A fun and dynamic event, this is a great opportunity for weightlifters from all over the region to get together to train, trade tips, and have a good time together - especially since this is one day that is not about competing! Weightlifters from anywhere in drivable distance are welcome to come in to share platforms, bars, and plates, and a chance to make the sport even better by developing fast friendships with others who possess the same passion for lifting heavy things overhead. There will be fun, food, and laughs, and very likely several cute dogs, and whether you’re an experienced lifter, or completely new to the sport, we would love to have you at Rx this Saturday to celebrate everything great about the competitive weightlifting community in New England!
DOCTOR PRESCRIBED, RX: SMASHFEST! | YOU KNOW THE DRILL! Gather with fellow weightlifters & train hard! Link with waiver and drop in fee will be sent the week of the event!
Rx Weightlifting at the 2024 Seacoast Open
The hits just keep on coming for our competing Rx Athletes, and the Rx Weightlifting Club put on an amazing performance this past weekend at the Seacoast Open, hosted by York Barbell Club in Maine! Bea Kulterer and Surya Nagaraja looked great in their first meet ever, and Evan Kimball at his first meet back in several years, with Bea hitting a 48kg snatch and 65kg clean & jerk, Surya hitting a PR 87kg snatch and 105kg clean & jerk, and Evan achieving a double PR of 88kg snatch and 105kg clean & jerk, also earning him the gold in the 73kg weight class - the last time he competed was in 2017!! Olivia Rowe also took the gold in her weight class with a 62kg snatch and 76kg c&j, Cam Hill earned a gold medal with double PRs of 100kg snatch and 136kg c&j, Morgan Hoose landed the silver with a 60kg snatch and 79kg c&j, and Coach John took yet another gold for Rx with a PR pairing of 120kg snatch and 150kg c&j! | | That’s quite the lineup of amazing performance by the Rx Weightlifting Club, with a bucket full of PRs, one silver medal, and FOUR gold medals! Congratulations to all, and what a competition season this is turning out to be for our Rx Athletes!
Finally, we should probably officially introduce you to the latest member of our pack... Lily 🐾
