Let's Get Real!

Life is a beautiful and ever-changing journey, isn't it? We all go through different seasons, facing ups and downs, joys and challenges. But sometimes, we feel unprepared to gracefully and empathetically navigate through the ebbs and flows of life.

That's why we are so excited to announce our 4-week August Book Study, where we will be delving into the transformative world of Sharon Salzberg's latest book:

*** Real Life: The Journey from Isolation to Openness and Freedom ***

As we navigate through the challenges of these uncertain times, Salzberg's book offers invaluable insights and practical tools to help us cultivate resilience, mindfulness, and a sense of inner peace. Through her personal stories and teachings, she reminds us that even in crisis, we can find the path to possibilities, connection, openness and true freedom.

Our final book study this summer is a collaboration with our partner, Insight Meditation Houston (IMH). Pictured above are Pam Lewis, our board chair who will be facilitating the book study and Ginger Clarkson, Community Dharma Teacher IMH.

Together, let's learn how to navigate the seasons of life with grace and empathy.

HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

Week 1: Introduction and Setting the Stage

We will kick off the book club by diving into the first chapters of "Real Life" and exploring the central themes of isolation and freedom. Join us as we discuss how these concepts resonate with our own experiences and share our initial reflections.

Week 2: Cultivating Mindfulness and Compassion

In this session, we will delve deeper into Salzberg's teachings on mindfulness and compassion. Together, we will explore practical exercises and techniques to bring these qualities into our daily lives, fostering a greater sense of connection and empathy.

Week 3: Overcoming Obstacles and Finding Resilience

Life often throws challenges our way, but how do we navigate through them with resilience and grace? Join us as we explore Salzberg's insights on overcoming obstacles and finding strength in the face of adversity.

Week 4: The Journey to Openness and Freedom

In our final session, we will reflect on the transformative journey from isolation to openness and freedom. We will share our personal takeaways from the book and discuss how we can continue to apply these teachings in our lives beyond the book club.
