The Gold Country crew have been very productive in the last 6 weeks building a marketing campaign and digital media content to further support the regional businesses, and communities through Shop Local, BC. Did you spot us in and around your community?

It has been very busy, and we had a short window to get the work done. Nine new videos will be launched featuring 70 Mile House, Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Clinton, Lillooet, Logan Lake, Lytton, Savona, Spences Bridge, and surrounding areas. There are so many diverse and dynamic businesses in the region, and this is a sampling of them. The importance of #shoplocalBC was the main theme but as each community was visited it’s unique story of perseverance, resiliency and recovery began to unfold showing the fortitude of this area and those who work, live, and stay here.

This region has been hit hard again, and again. Each time the outpouring of neighboring communities is at the fore front. Our voices need to be stronger than ever to let these friends, neighbours, and communities know they are not alone and we are here to support them and their businesses. Shop Local Gold Country. We are very thankful for the break in wildfires, slides, and floods so that we can safely visit each community to connect with businesses and expand the GCCS image bank and content as well as support those hit hardest by those events.

Gold Country in partnership with the TNRD has become a Resiliency Center and is open Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm for the month of February. From 10am to 2pm we will be set up in Spences Bridge to provide mental health supports and connections to further resources. Fun Events are once again beginning to pop up on the events calendar and the team looks forward to attending and assisting with social media promotion. Have an event that is open to the public to attend? Let us know and we would be happy to share it!

The new summer guide is coming out this spring! We are all excited to be also working on and creating a first ever winter guide with beautiful imagery and in a convenient pocket size format. This new size fits very will in rack displays cases in regional visitor centers, and hotel/motel display cases.

The Gold Country Prequel! It is happening! The Prequel GeoTour will be launched August 4^th with fun events around the region from August 4^th to August 8^th. Registration will be posted in the next newsletter coming out in March, 2022. Special thanks to BC Fairs, Events and Festivals for this great opportunity.

There will be trailhead locations though where you can continue to go for that amazing hike if you want to! As we have many wonderful geocaching friends, we are sure others will be placing geocaches upwards for you to seek and find.

Easier to access and reach geocaches with stories featuring life before and leading to the Gold Rush will be featured. We will be having a call out for storytellers, researchers, and geocaching hiders in the next month. Stay tuned for those announcements.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for taking the time to read these newsletters. The Gold Country team and road crew have undergone a lot of development training since forming in the last 10 months. By working together to complete projects, and to build new ones to assist in promoting and marketing this region we call home, we are excited to be sharing these new products, and resources. The passion and enthusiasm they all bring to the team is contagious in a good way and uplifting.

The devastating impacts to the communities and surrounding areas from wildfires, floods and slides have also meant edits and adjustments needed to be done on the trail map and guide as access to some areas and some communities has altered. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
