Plan Your Arts Weekend: Thursday thru Sunday

In this week's newsletter, I am including a few humble brags. First, I want to share that I am a producer of an award-winning short film RAZÓN DE SER: Luis C. Garza, which just won "Best Documentary" at the Burbank International Film Festival. It is about an 81-year-old Chicano photographer whose work is the subject of a solo exhibition The Other Side of Memory: Photographs by Luis C. Garza, which I organized and am touring to museums across the country. It is currently on view in Pennsylvania. I'd love to bring it to Houston in 2026 – got any leads?

Second, during the almost 25 years that I have worked with (not for!) Cheech, I have rarely presented myself outside of the shadows to do any on-screen interviews, but I am featured in a one-hour documentary for PBS SoCal, which aired last week and is now streaming worldwide. Watch it by clicking HERE!

Third, I was interviewed on air in Houston with host extraordinaire Duane Bradley and his co-host Stephanie Coleman on his KPFT show Open Journal. Listen HERE!

Last, please read my published article about Houston-based artist Kelily Anderson-Staley who has a solo exhibition on view in California at Riverside Art Museum (one of my museum clients!). Read it HERE!

Hope my art crew and I see you out and about this weekend. In addition to the featured events below, visit my online calendar to learn about even more visual art events happening in Houston (visit venues later if you miss their openings!). And, PLEASE invite your friends to subscribe to my newsletter!

Want your event promoted? You MUST submit your events online to be considered at www.melissarichardsonbanks.com (email any images!). Please understand that not all calendar listings can be accepted as featured events in the newsletter.
