Dear Friends

This year for Lent, I am starting a new goal for the Attic. We are undertaking the Lenten Bead Challenge. This Sunday, we will be making bead bracelets, and if you’re unable to attend on Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to make them on Shrove Tuesday or Ash Wednesday. I’ll have a little station set up where you can create your bracelets. If you keep track of your bracelet all 40 days and show me on Easter you will receive a golden Easter Egg!

The challenge should be a fun one but these bracelets have a purpose. These bracelets serve as a spiritual practice, reminding us of God’s presence during the 40 days of Lent. As you wear them, let them be a constant reminder to stay mindful of God’s love and presence in your days. This practice can also help you build a habit of reflection and prayer throughout the season of Lent.

Here are a couple of rules for the challenge:

  1. Wear your bracelet on Sundays and show it to me so I can keep track of your progress—after all, this is a challenge!
  2. If you slip up or forget to wear it, don’t be discouraged. Lent is about growth and reflection, so if you slip, take a moment to pray for forgiveness and recommit to the practice, remembering that this journey is between you and God. You're okay.

Let this bracelet be a reminder that Lent is a time of renewal, and even when we stumble, we can always turn back to God and continue striving toward our spiritual goals. I encourage everyone to participate in a Lenten practice, whether big or small. The season of Lent is such a rich time for reflection and growth. It offers us the opportunity to commit more deeply to God and to ourselves, strengthening our spiritual journeys.

There is so much that goes into Sunday's in The Attic and one of the best ways that parents can help is by providing our meal on Sunday nights. This can be anything from a homemade meal, take-out, or catering...whatever is easiest for you! A safe number to order for is about 20-25 people.

Please take a look at the available dates and sign-up for a time that works best for you! Thank you so much for your dedication to our youth program, we couldn't do it without awesome parents like you!

Hunger Walk Run 5K

Each March, people from across the Diocese gather in Midtown Atlanta to raise money for the Atlanta Community Food Bank and the Episcopal Community Food Bank. Together, these two organizations fund important projects that provide food and outreach services to people who need support. This Walk Run can be as relaxed or as competitive as you want it to be — either way, it’s a lot of fun. Join the Diocesan Youth Commission before the race for a special Eucharist service. Date will be announced by ECF and ACFB once the Atlanta United schedule is finalized. Cost is typically $25-35 to participate in the race. Email me to RSVP!

Graduation Celebration

Graduation is a huge deal and we’re planning accordingly! Each year, the first Sunday in May is set aside to celebrate the achievement of our graduating seniors at a host parish with a brief worship service followed by a reception. All high school graduates and their loved ones are welcome.
