JOIN Thursday, July 29, ADVANCING HUMAN RIGHTS Issue Committee Meeting
After the first well-attended meeting in June, to revitalize the Advancing Human Rights Issue Committee, the AHR Committee will meet again:
Thursday, July 29: 5 PM PDT/6 PM MDT/7 PM CDT/8 PM EDT
All WILPF US members are encouraged to attend the July 29 meeting to get connected with any of the subcommittees and/or to suggest other subjects related to human rights.
Decide which AHR subcommittee(s) you wish to join! The following subjects were proposed for subcommittees at the June 30 meeting.
- United Nations efforts regarding women
- Immigration and border militarization
- UN International Decade for People of African Descent
- Anti-racism work in and by WILPF US, including book groups and resources list
- Mass incarceration; police militarization
The agenda for the July 29 full-committee meeting (with breakout rooms) includes subcommittees’ discussions about their own way of functioning, sharing responsibilities, meeting times and methods, etc. Subcommittees will meet in a breakout session on the 29th and then between full committee meetings in order to have more time together to focus on work and planning.
The full Advancing Human Rights committee will meet again at the same time, near the end of each of the next two months:
