NEW: Change to Parent Communication Frequency
|

Xavier Families,
After listening to feedback from our families, we are adjusting our parent email communication and reducing the frequency with which regular emails are sent.
After the first week of school, parents can expect to see the following regular emails from Xavier HS each week:
-
ONE weekly "NAVIGATOR": Sent on Sunday evenings with important information to help families navigate the week and beyond. This will replace the multiple "Xavier Updates" sent throughout the week in the past.

ONE weekly "GOOD NEWS": Sent on Thursdays featuring highlights of the great things happening at Xavier.
Navigator emails will be available/archived on the Parent Portal page at XavierSaints.org/Parent for on-demand reading, just as our parent updates have been in the past.
Note: Xavier will send special email updates only when warranted by critically urgent information that needs to be shared with families. Parents will also continue to receive text alerts as they relate to school delays/cancellations or emergency situations (if that option was selected in PowerSchool).

Reminder: Freshman Orientation - Monday, August 21st 9:30-2:30 Required Attendance
|
|
We are looking forward to welcoming all of our new freshmen! The day will begin with Community Induction on the football field (wear sunscreen if needed). From there, students will walk through their classes, meet their teachers, and eat lunch in the cafeteria (hotdog, chips, cookie). This is a casual dress day. Students should bring a water bottle for lunch.

Reminder: Transfer Student Orientation - Tuesday, August 22nd 8-10 Required Attendance
|
|
New students to Xavier in grades 10-12 are asked to attend transfer student orientation. Students will meet teachers and learn more about Xavier as a whole. Students are asked to meet in the LMC that day.

Reminder: First Day of School Notes...

We are excited to welcome our Saints to the 2023-2024 school year Wednesday, August 23 for our first day of school!
Below are a few notes you are welcome to share with your student to ensure we hit the ground running Wednesday morning:
Bell Schedule: Students should report to their "House" classroom by 7:50 a.m.
- We will celebrate Mass at 8:10 a.m. (Parents are welcome)

- As a reminder, the first day of school will be a regular Wednesday early dismissal at 1:45pm
Dress: Regular Dress Code Day
A few helpful reminders regarding dress code:
- Shoes must have closed backs and toes as well as true soles

Shorts are not to be worn as part of dress code.

Hair: may not cover the face for both boys and girls, unnatural hair colors are not permitted

Schedule Changes:
Changes on or after the first day of school require signatures from a parent, teacher, and an administrator. All schedule change requests must be requested by 3:30pm Monday, August 28.

A course may be added or dropped within the first four school days of the semester.

A course level may be changed within the first four school days of the semester.
- After four school days a course or level change must be initiated by the instructor with the consent of the parent/guardian and an administrator.

Reminder: Fall Musical Auditions
|
|
The Xavier High School Performing Arts has invited students to audition for this year’s fall musical...
Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella
Auditions will be held in the choir room on Wednesday, August 23 from 2-4 PM (first day of school) and Thursday, August 24 from 6-8 PM
The first step is to CLICK HERE to register to audition. (Also shared with students via email on 8/14.) Links to the audition materials and audition time sign ups are in the form.
If students want to get involved in Theatre Tech Crew they can fill out the registration form. After filling out the personal information section they will select Theatre Tech.

Reminder: XPX Back-to-School Luncheon for Xavier Teachers & Staff
|
|
XPX will hold a back-to-school luncheon for all teachers and staff on Wednesday, August 23. They are looking for donations to help with this event. All donations may be dropped off on the cart outside the main office on Wednesday, August 23 from 7:30-9:30am. If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Schmit at kschmitpt@gmail.com.

NEW Action Item for Families Receiving an ESA |
|
If your student is receiving an ESA this year, the next step in the Students First ESA program is to confirm the tuition amount once Xavier has verified your student's enrollment.
Please log in to your Odyssey Portal to complete this step NOW! It should indicate "School Approved" when this step is ready and you should be able to click on "Review Tuition and Fees"
If you have not already completed the previous step to confirm your school, you will need to do that first, wait for Xavier to approve, then log back in and verify the tuition amount. The deadline to complete that step was Thursday, August 10th.

We ask that ALL Xavier families fill out the Xavier Volunteer Form. Currently we have received responses from about 29% of families.
There are many different types of opportunities to share your time and talent, and many hands make light work! Several of these opportunities or committees require little time commitment, have options available outside of work hours, and some can even be done from home.

Reminder: Kairos Registration for Juniors
|
|
Kairos Registration is now OPEN! Kairos is an optional retreat for juniors. We offer three weekends and they do fill up quickly so don’t delay! The weekends are:
- Kairos 49 - October 12-15
- Kairos 50 - February 8-11
- Kairos 51 - April 4-7

Reminder: New for 2023-2024 - All Students Participating in XHS Activities Must Be Registered on Bound
|
|
If your student is interested in participating in any extracurricular activities ( FINE ARTS, ATHLETICS OR CLUBS), parents must register each student via Bound.
ALL STUDENTS planning to participate in activities must be registered on Bound. This includes fine arts, athletics and clubs.
If your student is considering participating in athletics or cheer, parents must also upload a Physical, Concussion and Permission/Release Form via Bound. These forms will now be uploaded through this process – paper forms will not be accepted in the XHS Activities Office moving forward. You will not need to print a form elsewhere.
Please do NOT upload immunization records - these must be turned in to the school nurse either via hard copy or emailed to kris.naeve@xaviersaints.org
If you can not locate a current physical (and it’s currently on file with Xavier HS), please contact the XHS Activities Office via email at pam.barta@xaviersaints.org.
If your student is planning on (or interested in) participating in multiple activities, please register for each activity. The following forms will be uploaded/signed electronically via Bound:
