A Letter from our Executive Director

Ever wonder what life looks like after South Central LAMP?

For many families, it’s a turning point. Some women earn licenses, open childcare businesses, or become entrepreneurs. Others gain citizenship, find stable work, and begin building a new future.

A second income can mean enrolling kids in soccer, buying a car, or moving to a safer home. It opens doors many never thought possible.

Children leave our program better prepared for school—and for life. While we may not have local data, national studies show early education has a lasting impact. Many of our kids go on to college.

Can we take full credit? No—but we’re part of the village that makes it happen. A village made of supportive policies, schools, donors, nonprofits, and neighbors who care.

We may not walk the entire journey with each family, but for many, South Central LAMP is the first step. The first time they’re seen, supported, and empowered to grow. We’re proud to be part of that village—and we hope you are too.

Adult Education Program Update

What It Means to Be a Woman at South Central LAMP

This year, South Central LAMP celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme Her Art, Her Voice, giving our mothers a platform to express what womanhood means to them through poetry, painting, and sculpture. Each piece was a reflection of their unique journeys, strength, and resilience.

Now more than ever, as our community navigates growing challenges under our new presidential administration, it is crucial to stand together, uplift one another, and find strength in our shared experiences. Through creativity and storytelling, we continue to empower each other and build a brighter future.

Early Childhood Education Program Update

For March, in honor of spring, our ECE study area is insects! Through this, the students learn about size, color, texture, environment, and nature appreciation.

Additionally, our students are learning about the activists César Chávez and Dolores Huerta, reading books about how these individuals stood up for the rights of hardworking families.

In our Parent and Child Interactive Literacy Activities, we are reading books and singing songs about welcoming and greeting, exposing children to the importance of saying hello!
