PEACE CENTER ACTIVIST ALERT
NOVEMBER 3rd, 2025

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4th, 9 AM
CALFRESH/SNAP
ADVOCACY ALERT!
CalFresh/SNAP benefits have now lapsed for tens of thousands of families in Contra Costa County, leaving them without funds they rely on to purchase groceries.
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is considering a vote on a request to fill the gap by purchasing $21 million in debit cards for CalFresh families.
Please join us at the Board of Supervisors Meeting in person, online, or by phone to urge the Board to vote yes on this critical funding, and support emergency food providers like the Food Bank.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING
9 a.m., November 4, 2025
In person: Administration Building, 1025 Escobar Street, Martinez
Online: https://hello.foodbankccs.org/e/886393/j-89586041575/2yrdr5/1034491789/h/jh218XI2dcdwjQbys2BZFKFVL6tUQwe1cJ2lulJcEg8
Call in: 888-278-0254 (access code 843298#)
You will have up to two minutes to make a comment. Your voice and presence will help ensure that no one in our community has to go without food.
If you have received CalFresh in Contra Costa County and would like to share how this delay in benefits is impacting your household, we encourage you to do so. Your voice will make an impact.
We’re grateful to the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors for considering this request – and to community members like you who are standing with us to support your neighbors in need.
The reality is that even if the vote passes tomorrow, benefits will still be delayed, and it will take time to get debit cards into community members' hands. We’re preparing for increased demand at our distributions, to ensure everyone can continue to get the food they need.
If you or someone you know is in need of immediate help with food, please visit our Find Food Map, or call 1-855-309-3663 (FOOD).

WE THE PEOPLE WEDNESDAYS
Organized by Indivisible ReSisters Contra Costa!
Join us for a rousing honk and wave visibility action.
Bring your signs and raise your voice for democracy and to protect our rights!
This is a nonviolent event. Stay within your rights, don’t break laws, stay safe, stay peaceful, and avoid any risk you don’t feel comfortable with. Don’t obstruct traffic, impede pedestrians, or commit any acts of property damage.
If counter-protestors appear, do your best to ignore them. When people shout from cars, just remember that we are standing for their rights, too. They just don't know it.
This is a busy intersection and cars drive fast. Please stay on the sidewalk at least a few feet from cars. We can spread out down the block and take a stand on the pedestrian overpass. Safety is our top priority. If you have any concerns during this event, please find a peace ambassador in an orange vest and they will help.
There are several parking lots within walking distance or you can find street parking at Civic Park or on Civic Drive or Arroyo Way.

KPFA INTERVIEW OF FADI SABA ON AB715 IMPACT
"Over the weekend, with early voting well underway for the New York City mayoralty, and just days before polling ends on Tuesday night, Barack Obama turned the headlights on this campaign even higher.
Just over a week from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ very late endorsement of Zhoran Mamdani, the former president placed a call to the Democrats’ 34-year-old frontrunner. News of the call broke in The New York Times. Reportedly, this is the second time Obama has called Mamdani since the primary. "

World BEYOND War has
a DIVESTMENT campaign!
About the Campaign
Grassroots-led war divestment campaigns are springing up all over the world, from students organizing to divest university endowments, to municipalities and states coming together to divest public pension funds. Divestment means organizing to remove public and private assets from weapons manufacturers, military contractors, and war profiteers.
Public pension and retirement funds especially are often invested, directly and indirectly, in weapons companies. Teachers and other public servants whose interests lie with promoting human needs have their retirement security tied up with maintaining or enlarging the war industry. Every dollar currently invested in weapons and war is a dollar that could be better spent on job creation, education, housing, healthcare, food security, and so much more.
War profiteering is largely normalized today. We’re working to stigmatize the war machine. World BEYOND War assists divestment campaigns led by our chapters, affiliates, other coalitions, and individuals around the world.
