Seismic Methods

Certerra is the partner of choice for geophysical technologies

Seismic methods provide a practical way to continuously map the subsurface along profiles, reducing uncertainty when interpolating between boreholes. These methods use seismic energy (natural or induced ground vibrations) to image the subsurface and highlight changes in bedrock depth, geologic layering, ground conditions, and material stiffness. Seismic tools, including refraction, reflection, and surface-wave methods (MASW), are commonly used to complement and enhance geotechnical studies for infrastructure projects, mining investigations, hazard assessments, and groundwater studies.

Plan with confidence

When teams understand subsurface conditions early, they can plan with greater confidence. Seismic data helps refine budgets, reduce unexpected excavation costs, and focus drilling or sampling where it matters most. The result is fewer field surprises, more efficient investigations, and better alignment between project assumptions and actual subsurface conditions.
