Subject: Pedestrian Struck / Death Investigation
Location: Highway Ave (Rt. 8) west of Spring Street
COVINGTON, KY- Covington Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on Highway Avenue, just west of Spring Street. The department’s Traffic Unit and Evidence Collection Unit responded to the scene.
Around 5:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a person struck by a car. Officers located the pedestrian—identified as Shaun P. Ewing, 42, of Covington—suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Mr. Ewing was transported to UC Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. At the time of the incident, Mr. Ewing was on foot and outside of a crosswalk.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has fully cooperated with investigators. No criminal charges have been filed.
Mr. Ewing’s family has experienced a heartbreaking loss, and we extend our deepest condolences as we continue working to provide them with answers.
