Treaty of Paris with Craig Beles
The Treaty of Paris, signed on September 3, 1783, officially ended the American Revolutionary War and recognized the United States as an independent nation. The Treaty set the national boundaries doubling its size, and defined trade relationships that made Britian our major trading partner.
Vashon has no treaties, but the relationship with King County and the various governmental entities on the island (Fire, Parks, Water, Airport, etc.) all involve continual negotiations.

Homages, VCA Appearances and More
We pay homage to Paddy Keenan this month. Paddy’s passing marks the end of an era. Very few people in Traditional music are so widely and deeply admired or as influential as Paddy. We also lost the wonderful singer from the Isle of Lewis, Mary Smith. We pay homage to her as well. We play tracks from people who will performing at the VCA soon: Skerryvore, Julie Fowlis, and Lunasa. We also play the Weeds, who performed recently at the Episcopal church, Rose Bett, Beoga (who backed out of the Ed Sheeran tour in support of Macklemore), Tommy O’Sullivan and our own Hayden Stern.

Boogie Back to Texas
Wednesday, 6-7 PM
Home
Boogie Back host Geoff Fletcher continues his Home series. Many of the songs are about leaving home, such as that from the Chicks about Lubbock, Jerry Jeff with the classic Guy Clark song about L.A. and Toni Price is Not Coming Home. We have a couple of great titles - I’m Gonna Hire a Wino to Decorate My Home and My Home Ain’t in the Hall of Fame that go far beyond humor. Fletcher picked a couple of the less obnoxious “Texas Proud” songs, sticking with Willie and Lyle. Shawn Colvin Covers the Talking Heads, Willie covers Paul Simon and country star Mckey Gilley covers a soul song. And the ever-popular more rounds out the show.
