OPS/NOW Meeting and Community Meal

Please join us for the first community meal of the new year on Wednesday, January 14! Everyone is invited to gather in the Henry Young Fellowship Hall for dinner at 6:00 p.m. (homemade soup and sandwiches) and stay for continued discussion of our church community and mission.

Our discussions will take place in two committees:

  • OPS (Operations) Committee—Guides the work of stewardship and giving, finances, budget, personnel, upkeep of building and grounds.
  • NOW Committee—Guides programmatic work of the congregation, including music and worship, Christian formation, earth care, gun violence prevention, garden ministry, outreach to the community, Guatemala partnership and overseas mission.

Even if you are not sure about serving on a “committee,” please join us for the meal and a chance to get to know others in our church community.

Prayer Group for Middle East

Feel free to join us Thursdays on Zoom, in-person, or both. This group has enabled such support for one another as we all struggle to cope with the tragedies in the Middle East and the on and off cease fires and prisoner releases.

We would be grateful to have others join us. Email Soni at soni.castleberry@gmail.com to get the Zoom link and be added to the group email list for regular communication.

Choir practice will not be held tonight. It will resume next Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Please feel free to come and see if this is something you might be interested in.

There is an open discussion meeting of AA held every Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Anyone is welcome.

Did You Know?

What Presbyterians Believe...

Reformed churches have participated in the preparation of well over thirty new confessions that have been completed or are in process. This multiplicity of confessions, written by many people in many places over such a great span of time, obviously means that the Reformed tradition has never been content to recognize any one confession or collection of confessions as an absolute, infallible statement of the faith of Reformed Christians for all time.

In the Reformed tradition confessional statements do have authority as statements of the faith of Reformed Christians at particular times and places, and there is a remarkable (CONFESSIONAL NATURE OF THE CHURCH REPORT) consistency in their fundamental content. Some have had convincing power for a long time. Nevertheless, for Reformed Christians all confessional statements have only a provisional, temporary, relative authority
