TEDCO Spotlights
Connor Roberts is founder and CEO of Opal HTM, a healthcare technology company working to improve hospital efficiency by reshaping how medical equipment is managed and maintained. Under Connor’s leadership, Opal HTM has acquired patent protection for its technology, raised capital through grants and investments, built industry partnerships, and conducted significant market research and validation. The company was recently selected for a $25K investment through TEDCO's Rural Business Innovation Initiative, as well as the Launch Lane Digital Health Accelerator, and is currently preparing to launch in-field system pilots.
SueChef is a kitchen robot, developed by startup Counter-Intuitive Cooking Inc. (CICI), that can be remotely directed to cook premade frozen meals.

Beat the Rush Delivery works with TEDCO's Rural Business Innovation Initiative mentor on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The company is working on a project at the historic Packing House in Cambridge, MD. The building is being designed with a focus on removing conventional barriers for culinary entrepreneurs in search of commercial kitchen space.

TEDCO's Maryland Innovation Initiative (MII) announced its recent round of funding, including $1.8M invested in 12 companies and over $4.4M awarded to 36 project grants.

In the nine years since its launch, MII has disbursed $43M, de-risked 276 unique technologies and created 119 start-ups. MII’s portfolio of start-ups have gone on to raise over $571.5M in follow-on funding and resulted in seven exits thus far.

Conducted by the University of Baltimore’s Jacob France Institute, the study found that TEDCO provides significant value to the state’s start-up community, supporting 10,433 Maryland jobs and more than $2.3B in statewide economic activity as of 2021.
