SOCIAL ACTION LEADERSHIP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

We would like to announce a wonderful volunteer opportunity.

After 8 years as Social Action Co-Chairs, Marcia and Harold are "retiring". We have a fabulous committee, and our key social action events have amazing people leaders. However, we are seeking a new chair or co-chairs to beign in July, 2025. We do need a new chair (or co-chairs) starting in July. This is a very rewarding volunteer opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

If you are interested in talking about it further, please send an email to socialaction@adatelohim.com and Marcia will get in touch with you.

HARBOR HOUSE HOT MEALS

We need your help on Sunday, May 25, 2025!

Make a portion of a hot meal for those in need and bring it to TAE to be packaged and then delivered to Harbor House!

On the last Sunday of each month (except December), TAE partners provide a delicious hot meal for 60 clients of Harbor House.

Harbor House clients rely on us to provide this meal each month, and we can't do it without your help!

Volunteers prepare parts of the meal at home and bring them to TAE, where the meals are packed into to-go boxes and delivered to Harbor House.

Sign up to prepare a dish for 20 people at home with your family and deliver it to TAE on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 3:15 PM. You can either drop it off or stay until 3:45 PM to assist with packing the meals. Kids are welcome! Packing typically takes under 30 minutes.

Dishes needed:

  • protein
  • vegetable
  • starch
  • dessert
  • bread

Please sign up if you're available to contribute!

A heartfelt thank you to each and every volunteer who makes the meals possible, and to Michele Zinn and Karen Begun who coordinate the program.

This is your opportunity to make a direct impact in our community by helping them collect and cheer on the letter carriers as they pick up donated bags of food.

Please be on time, ready to work hard, and have fun!

Temple Adat Elohim's congregants continue to provide 'to-go' bagged lunches and cases of water for those in need in our community.

CAN YOU HELP?

Caring Community of TAE needs your help!

Our Caring Community is dedicated to reaching out to those in our TAE community who are in need.

Do you have some time to make a few phone calls to TAE partners in need letting them know their TAE family is thinking of them? Are you available to visit (either remotely or in-person) with people who are in need of contact while they are ill or homebound? If you can help, please contact Cantor David at dshukiar@adatelohim.com and join our growing list of volunteers who create community through their actions. If you or someone you know is in need, please don't hesitate to reach out as well.

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING?

BLOOD DRIVE

Our Blood Drive was held on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Thank you to all of our life-saving donors who gave blood to help 114 local patients! Special thanks to Joyce Bloom and Donna Steinman for planning this impactful event!

KINDNESS CAFÉ

On April 27, 2025, TAE partners spent the afternoon painting! We painted vases that Interface Children and Family Services will be using as centerpieces at their upcoming fundraiser "Love is Brewing" and we painted bowls for Many Mansions to use at their fall fundraiser "Bowls of Hope".

CLUB CHESED - MAKING LUNCHES FOR HARBOR HOUSE

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Club Chesed families had a great time making 75 lunches for Harbor House.

SHOES THAT FIT

Thank you to our generous TAE partners for donating 57 pairs of new athletic shoes to at-risk children in Conejo Unified! For many of these children, this was their first pair of new shoes. Thank you to Barbara Greenstein for once again coordinating the drive. Your kindness is making a meaningful difference in our community.

This monthly Social Action e-newsletter is sent from the Social Action committee at the beginning of each month, highlighting upcoming social action opportunities for the TAE community. We invite all TAE partners to find a place within TAE Social Action. We hope you will find a project (or many!) that touches your heart, as there is something for everyone.

If you support charities or projects, please share them with us at socialaction@adatelohim.com. We may be able to involve others in a project that is important to you!
