Dear Hyer Families,

While the Longhorns didn't defeat the Sooners this weekend in the Red River Showdown, three cheers to our Hyer Longhorn Fans who won the College Throwdown competition - Hook 'Em Horns! Thank you to each of you who participated in the fun!

Coming off the heels of our extraordinary State Fair themed book fair, our families, staff and students, delighted in all the fun that Bike Safety Week has to offer! Kudos to the best PTA, Dads Club and countless volunteers who helped make this event, and every Hyer event, such an incredible success. It was wonderful to see many families cheering on our bikers as they navigated the Bike Rodeo course. Our students and teachers had a blast and we are grateful to each of you who made this event possible.

I hope you and your family were able to make the most of the long weekend and cherished the time together.

KC CLUB: PET FOOD DRIVE ENDS TOMORROW!

The 4th Grade KC Club (Kindness and Compassion Club) is kicking off its first community service project of the year! The club will be collecting UNOPENED dog and cat food, treats, and bath towels to donate to Operation Kindness. Operation Kindness is a pioneer in Texas for assisting animals in need of veterinary care, companionship and, most of all, a home.

The food drive is up and running and will continue through tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13th. Donation bins will be located in the hallways and at the Caruth entrance.

KC Club members are very enthusiastic about helping cats and dogs in this lifesaving animal shelter, as well as having the pet food bank re-stocked and ready for the fall. Thank you in advance for your generous donations.

⚓️ That’s a Wrap on the 2026 Hyer Bike Rodeo! 🚲🌊

What an incredible voyage! Our Huskies rode the high seas, conquered the waves, dodged octopus tentacles, and sailed through an unforgettable Bike Rodeo!

A HUGE thank you to our amazing volunteers, generous sponsors, teachers, staff, and families who helped make this year’s event such a splashing success! We couldn’t have pulled it off without our incredible crew!

From start to finish, it was a day filled with smiles, laughter, and memories that will last long after we’ve docked.

A BIG Husky High Five to some of the incredible people working tirelessly behind the scenes to help keep Hyer sailing smoothly!

✋ Sarah Bateman, Kate Thompson and ALL of our incredible Bike Rodeo volunteers, thank you for showing up in such a huge way and making this event absolutely magical for our Huskies! Every detail was so thoughtfully planned, organized and carried out, and the day could not have happened without the many helping hands who gave their time and energy. Sarah and Kate, you two truly knocked it out of the park!

✋ A huge High Five to the HP Cycling Team for riding through the halls of Hyer alongside Counselor Linde Thompson, Jesus Cristian and Coach Cullen! You made the parade such a fun and unforgettable experience for our students. And an extra High Five to Catherine Lowe, who showed up on her unicycle and brought even more magic to the halls! What a way to kick off Bike Rodeo!
