A Note from Pastor Jenn - January 9, 2025

Dear St. Lukers,

What an amazing start to the new year we had on Epiphany Sunday. We gathered as one church for worship with amazing music and centered on the Table, all to BE Guided by the light of Christ, the journey of the Magi, and the gift of "Star Words." These words were picked up as we received Communion as your personal word to be guided by in the coming year. Each one started with “BE,” and is connected to sermon titles, themes, or series for the coming months. If you weren’t able to claim your "Star Word," there is a basket in the church office (come by to pick one up), or you can use our word generator by clicking here (remember to only spin once!).

This Sunday, we continue this first Epiphany series, discerning how we will “BE” alive and thrive in 2025. We move with Jesus to the water's edge as we learn of his baptism in the Gospel of Luke 3:15-22. As we come to the water’s edge with Jesus in worship this week, we will participate in renewing our own baptism as we let the water touch us and remember what it is to “Be Loved” by God. This Sunday is a favorite around St. Luke’s, and yes, we do have a little something for you to take with you...

St. Luke's Week in Review

A Community of Friendship

The women of Morning Edition, an online Life Together group, are a volunteer powerhouse at St. Luke’s. When not engaged in Bible study, you’ll find them crafting, staffing the Blessed Treasures Gift Shop, and serving the church in countless ways. With an always-active prayer line, this group is deeply committed to spiritual growth and fostering a true sense of community.

All women are invited to join in weekly on Wednesdays at 8:15 a.m. via Zoom! This month, they are studying the book "What Happens Next" by Max Lucado. Connect with others and click here to register and receive the Zoom link.

New Year, New Spiritual Resolutions

As every new year comes around, most of us usually self-reflect on the prior year and make intentional decisions to improve both physically and mentally. We adjust our attitudes, change bad habits, establish better fitness routines, boost certain relationships, or stop specific behaviors, both personally and professionally.

But what about our Spiritual resolutions? Do you think about this when January comes around? So, how is your faith? Do you have habits in place that allow for the growth of your spiritual life? Just like most things in our lives, if we don’t nurture our relationship with God...

Bags to Benches: Recycling Challenge

St. Luke’s is excited to participate in the NexTrex Recycling Challenge this year, a nationwide initiative that encourages churches, schools, and organizations to collect plastic film waste that is difficult to recycle through curbside programs. By collecting items like grocery bags, bread bags, and plastic mailers, we can help divert waste from landfills. Our goal is to collect 1,000 pounds of plastic in 2025, and once we do, NexTrex will give us a bench made out of recycled plastic for our campus! Click here to learn more, and happy recycling!
