Spring into Action

This time of year brings a new season of inspired activity. We are grateful for our supporters who give to LVS in unique ways that touch the heart and nurture the soul.

The Westham Garden Club donated vases of fresh flowers (delivered by Mary Helen Willett) to decorate the Commons Area tables.

Our Veterans were thrilled, relishing this thoughtful contribution that makes the Commons even more welcoming.

Another LVS champion reached out to see what our Veterans still needed in Veterans Village, and the reply was, "Games!" A wide variety arrived a short time later.

This same donor also gave generous Wawa gift cards to LVS employees to help at the gas pump!

A Heart for Helping

LVS resident and U.S. Army Veteran Mr. Phelps, also known as “C4,” has a strong heart for helping others. It is often said that a soldier’s personality is rooted in teamwork and mission accomplishment—qualities that Mr. Phelps continues to embody in his daily life.

He shared with his case manager his desire to give back to the community, and he has done just that. In March 2026 Mr. Phelps joined the Liberation Church Food Pantry Team, where he has become a dedicated and valued volunteer. At the end of each day, he checks in with his case manager to reflect on his experiences and the impact of his service.

Mr. Phelps assists with organizing items, lifting and transporting boxes, and ensuring the pantry operates smoothly. However, the highlight of his service comes on Tuesdays and Thursdays on what is called "Serve Day." He finds great joy in assisting individuals as they select their food, offering not only support but also words of encouragement that uplift and inspire.

In the words of Pastor Sonny, coordinator of the food pantry, “Mr. Phelps fits in and has become a part of the team.”

Mr. Phelps is a man who has found renewed purpose in life, using his strength, compassion, and commitment to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Our mission is to offer homeless Veterans the care, resources,

and stability needed to rebuild their lives.
