The City of Mountain View and Google successfully partnered for Phase 1 of the Charleston Transit Corridor project and the renovation of Charleston Park. Phase 1 of the project included: a new transit area with bus pull-out and bicycle parking areas, three signalized and protected intersections, sidewalks, a two-way cycle track on the north side of the street, a protected bikeway on the south side, lighting and landscaping. Its completion signifies the first portion of the City’s Charleston Road transit boulevard concept in the North Bayshore Precise Plan. The southern end of Charleston Park now has new native plants and trees, new walking pathways, lighting, irrigation and an entry plaza.

This month, the City of Mountain View and the County of Santa Clara will host the second community meeting about an opportunity to convert the Crestview Hotel, located at 901 E. El Camino Real, to residential use for various housing needs and priorities. The virtual meeting will take place via Zoom on Thursday, August 19 from 6–7:30 p.m. Translation services will be available in Spanish and Chinese.

Attendees will hear about the status of the Crestview process and have an opportunity to learn about and provide input on affordable housing needs in Mountain View, project funding, tenant selection process and other priority topics that surfaced during the first meeting held by the City and County on March 30.
