Good Turn for Tamarancho Saturdays --- May 2 & June 13

The Council Camping & Properties Committees hosted a number of dedicated adult volunteers and Scouts BSA youth on Saturday to join in giving back to our local Camp Tamarancho we all love and adore by "doing a good turn" with camp service projects. We helped to beautify the property by cleaning up brush and downed trees in the Twin Cities and Pioneer Point campsite areas, spread old used haybales all around the Archery range, and broadcast fresh bark mulch all around the Murray Lodge and Sundial Picnic areas. The first of a new series of cantilevered tent platforms was constructed at Pioneer Point as a proof of concept with our plans to make that a model campsite for the future!

With a lot of tree work completed recently by Marin County Fire, the center of camp is taking on a fresh new look. We aim to do it again on Saturday, June 13 to focus on rejuvenating the waterfront and lakeside fishing area for the Summer users. Please contact MJ by email to support this service project next month. Let's be proud of Tamarancho!

Family Fiesta Returns to Tamarancho --- May 15-17

Join this fun family camping weekend where our Scouts BSA Troops put on exciting outdoor activities for the Cub Scout families. Find out more details here!

Marin Council Wants Your Scout to Go to Summer Camp!

Access to outdoor adventure is the promise made to young people when they join Scouting. Boys and girls yearn for outdoor programs that stir their imagination and interest. In the Outdoors we strive to meet the four Aims of Scouting: Citizenship Training, Character Growth, Personal Fitness, and Leadership Development.

The annual Summer experience is critical to delivering the promise of adventure and the mission of Scouting America to our youth and can be the highlight of their year! Don't let your Scout get left behind from attending Cub Scout Day Camp, Scouts BSA Summer Camp or NYLT, and utilize the attached Council aid resources designed to help your family finance your Scout to attend the camp programs of their choice!

Monthly News Bulletin for OA Lodge Members

On the Lodge Executive Committee, our Lodge Chief is Jack Wien, Kate Wentzell is our Vice Chief of Program, and our Vice Chief of Membership is Nicole Rekhtman. Our Vice Chief of Ceremonies is Nate Lee, our Treasurer is Ava Marin, and our Secretary is Ben Wentzell.

Talako Lodge has knocked down yet another successful month! Our monthly meeting took place on Tueday, April 14 at the San Rafael Elks Lodge, where we enjoyed some delicious pizza and planned the events for the Spring Induction weekend. Later that week on April 17-19, we held our annual Spring Induction and Vigil Honor ceremonies up at Camp Tamarancho. We had an amazing turnout of nearly 20 new arrowmen, a few additional new Brotherhood members, and 3 new Vigil Honors (Mason Chiu, Jack Wien, and Mrs. Janet Chiu). The camp service project at the Chapel turned out great, and the staff did a fantastic job making the inductees' first memories with the OA quite memorable.

Coming up this Saturday, May 9 will be an onsite preparation for the September Conclave, which we will host the section CoC at Camp Marin-Sierra. The Council of Chiefs will do a walkthrough of camp facilities and go over planning for all the fun Conclave activities. Our next monthly lodge meeting will be next Tuesday, May 12 at the San Rafael Elks Lodge.

We currently have a large selection of OA Lodge Flaps available, which can be ordered online with other memorabilia. Also check out our Talako Lodge Trading Post to purchase our awesome new scenic lodge flap series! If you have any questions about the National Order of the Arrow organization, or the local Talako Lodge in Marin, please contact by email Talako’s new Lodge Chief: Jack Wien.
